Creepy, Cluttered B&B!You should know what you're getting into before reserving here. First, this is under new management. It overlooks a major highway (29). It IS a 200 year old home so don't expect any modern conveniences outside of a Keurig on the second floor landing. Old, stained furnishings, with cluttered knick knacks everywhere. The floors creak, you can hear everything and every one. We reserved the Margo suite which is on the top floor (2 winding, narrow staircases) and the bed was so uncomfortable. Tiny tub with a shower head and curtain. The worst was the room shares a thermostat with the room next door so we ended up with dueling temperature challenges, which is ridiculous for the price you are paying here. Literally, the only positive was they do try to provide a nice breakfast in the morning. We couldn't wait to leave and find a hotel with a decent shower and it's own thermostat!.

Interesting visitThis was an Interesting stay. Me and my husband planned to stay for two nights at the last minute, but after reading the reviews we changed it to one night (and we glad we did). There were several issues First, we booked the Ellicott room, however we noticed the next morning that we were given the incorrect room which was the the Banneker Room. The rooms are the same the only difference are the beds. If I would have never said anything to the owner(Joe) he would have not mentioned anything to us about the mix up. Second , the room was extremely cold. There was no heat, the only heat was the fire place which is located in the bedroom. We were given one pack of logs which lasted for four hours. Third the lack of tv channels. There are only basic channels and the rest are HBO channels. We watch Netflix on our iPad for the night. The highlight of the evening was the jet tub and spending time with my husband. Luckily we had the heat from the tub keeping us warm because there is no heat in the bathroom. The next morning, we were suppose to receive a three course meal. We received coffee or tea, fruit dish with yogurt and our main dish. We were not offered any assortment of juices. The only reason why we chose this place because it was listed in the Select Registry Book, which we found out as we were checking out that they are no longer apart of. I explained to the owner that it is listed on their website under how did you hear about us. He said that he will remove it. Unfortunately, we will not be staying here again.

New Ownership but Very Good ServiceI really enjoyed the night I spent here. We were looking for a quick getaway and this provided a nice fun trip close to home. The new owner was very friendly and talked to us all through breakfast. The Rooms were clean and well maintained.

Banneker room is creaky and small, breakfast is outstandingWe booked the Banneker room for the night of November 8th. The property is right on the highway. With the fall season, our uber driver missed it! The home is beautiful and well decorated, we could enjoy the tourist attractions on the main street in the town in the afternoon. However, the room is extremely creaky, anyone walking in the room would make so much noise, it's very old and not well maintained. The jet tub (Jacuzzi) makes so much noise, you would not want to run it at all. However, the breakfast is par excellence. Joe arranged a fruit meal for us, followed by a mini buffet :) - baked egg, sausages, a mini-croissant sandwich - served very well. They do have coffee and tea machine that works well. But the room is small and the floor makes noise when anyone walks, the bathroom is much bigger (compared to the room). Overall, banneker room is too pricey (at $199 + taxes = $224). I have been to better bed and breakfast places for $150-$175.

Great Getaway with Lots of Character! My husband and I desperately needed a weekend getaway and a break from our kids so I searched the area for a B&B and found this one. We love character and history in a B&B so we enjoy the creaky floors, winding staircases, and all the other little oddities that come with an extremely old house. The owner was so warm and welcoming and the breakfast was outstanding! He served us what may have been the best croissant breakfast sandwich Ive ever had and thats saying something. We felt the pricing was great, the stay was comfortable and the food was on point.
