Dreadful - positive reviews VERY misleading. This is an honest review of the Wakefield House Hotel in Blackpool. I booked 2 nights for 2 adults and 3 children with a cooked breakfast included. I wasnt expecting 5 star accommodation but unless your expectations are incredibly low Id say avoid at all costs. On arrival it was clear that the building is very tired and in great need of a refurbishment. We were welcomed pleasantly and I have no issue with the hosts. However I was so disappointed when we were shown to our suite, a double room, a twin room and another with bunk beds, there is a toilet and shower. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls, filthy plug sockets and stains all over the carpets. These rooms havent been painted or decorated in years. The furniture was incredibly sparse, no bedside tables beside the double bed so nowhere to put a glass or your phone, jewellery etc and there is a terrible smell of drains or damp in the main bedroom. There was a tiny mirror above the very stained and cracked sink in the main bedroom but nothing full length. Light bulbs hanging with no shades. Just very basic. Anytime someone above you flushes their toilet the noise is easily heard and sounds like water running down the walls. The door into the twin room was extremely heavy and we had to wedge it open using a towel as we were worried our young children would lose a finger, so definitely a health and safety issue there. There is also a cracked window pane in the bathroom which is covered with taped cardboard. The windows are very old and draughty. The net curtains are badly in need of a wash. Breakfast was very disappointing, I waited nearly 40 minutes for my food and my husband had finished his 15 minutes before mine arrived. Cereal choices are poor and tubs not well stocked. The bacon was very hard and, again it was all very basic and drab. I feel very mislead by the photographs on the website and the many glowing reviews on booking.com. I can only think that if you had very low standards then youd think this place was great. However, I will say that the location was excellent, literally 2 mins walk from Coral Island and the Tower and other local attractions. The beds were adequate and the sheets were clean so I have no complaints about that. It wasnt noisy at night, we slept well. We spent very little time at the hotel as we were so busy but the positives sadly didnt make up for the very disappointing experience and we certainly would not return. We have stayed at some lovely B&Bs in Blackpool and had no problems but sadly this one doesnt hit the mark.

Made my stay enjoyableI'm on holiday from Australia. I absolutely enjoyed my stay at Wakefield House Hotel. Craig and Kayleigh are excellent hosts. Their knowledge of Blackpool is fantastic. They did the perfect breakfast and the rooms and ensuites are spotless. Great price for my stay and budget.

Best full English ever! The couple who ran the hotel were kind and friendly and our room was warm and cosy. We had a view of the tower from our room which was lit up beautifully at night and so a very short walk to the promenade. The price included breakfast which was cereals, toast and jam, juice, tea and coffee and a full English of bacon sausage egg beans tomatos mushrooms and a fried slice which was not only cooked to order and hot but delicious too. Our stay was definitely enjoyable and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. If I'm ever in Blackpool again I would choose this hotel.
