Know what youre getting and youll have a great time! The Villas are individually owned and separate condo buildings scattered around the plantation, not part or attached to the main hotel. Some are beautifully renovated with ocean views, others are old and dirty. I did a lot of research before booking and chose to book through the Omni website so that we could use the hotel amenities. You can book these condo units through other booking agencies (Airbnb, vrbo) but you do not have access to the hotel pools etc. I also booked a featured villa that gave me many photos of the unit, the room number and building location so I knew exactly what I was getting. Yes you probably pay more for these but I didnt want to end up with an old dated unit and specifically wanted Captains Court villas as its closest to the hotel. That being said our unit was amazing as expected. We could walk out from our patio doors to the beach, the decor was updated, we had 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen and were very comfortable there for a week. The main hotel is nicely decorated but I will say they are absolutely NOT following COVID distancing guidelines at the main pool area. We rented a cabana for my daughters birthday so we could have our own space but other than that did not use the main pool which was very disappointing. Lounge chairs are not spaced apart at all, so many people congregating in the pools, bars and dont even ask about the adult only pool!! We arrived on a Saturday and it was a pool party in there with everyone crowded and drinking. If you are looking for a pool area that is safe from Covid do not go to the Omni. Yes the servers are wearing masks but cramming pool lounge chairs side by side is not ok. They also were not enforcing guests wearing masks even though there were signs placed around the property that masks were required. Its a do as you please mentality and was very busy during our stay. Lucky for us we had rented a beachfront villa where we could be very socially distant but if you are hoping to use the pool areas then this may not be the place for you Would we stay again.... absolutely but maybe when Covid is over and we can use the pool areas and services we paid for. Otherwise I will just rent the villa through an Airbnb and save the resort fees and extra charges

Great Villa, Disappointing Omni AmenitiesWe originally considered the Omni Hotel because it appeared to be a gorgeous hotel, at a gorgeous location, plus its pet friendly. However, the pet friendly rooms have horrible reviews. So I booked a Villa instead to offer my family more space and direct access to the beach. We were also hoping to avoid direct contact with people during this pandemic. I did my research and chose a Captains Court Villa that was recently renovated and directly next to the hotel. We booked through the Omni website so that could choose our Villa directly and gain access to the Omni amenities. Unfortunately by booking through the Omni they told us service dogs only. So we kept my pup home with a dog sitter. Upon arriving we saw a view other villa occupants with dogs and several dogs on the beach. I learned that some Villa owners WILL allow pets, but youd have to book with the owner directly (through AirBnB or VRBO). And we ended up not using any of the Omni amenities. Next time Ill book directly with the Owner. Regardless our Villa was gorgeous! Contemporary furniture, wine fridge, electric fire place/ heater on a flat screen. Very comfortable for my family of 4. There are 3 levels set up as a split level, with another Villa on top of ours. We were on the ground floor with a walk out to the ocean from the living room. The bedrooms faced the other side of the building for a garden view. The Villa above us had large ocean facing windows, but no walk out or balconies. Read the descriptions carefully as some have the walk out, some have balconies, and some have neither. Amenities: The main Omni pool was super overcrowded. My young kids, 4 and 6, begged to go. So we went late one night before dinner. It still had a lot of people, but was bearable. Captains Court does have its own pool and tennis courts (the villas are gated off, so no one can access without the codes). The pool was small, but empty! The beach is great. Crowded directly in front of the Omni, but more empty off to the sides and away from the hotel. The tents and chairs are free for guests in front of the hotel, but we opted to bring our own beach chairs and tent to avoid the crowd. But we discovered that the Villa owners had chairs, wake boards, sand toys, etc for use. Theres a Nature Center that offers classes on fishing 101, sea turtles, snakes, etc. You can also rent bikes and other mobile devices. The other kids activities are closed at the moment. During normal times, we would have participated in all of these with my kids. But we opted not to on this trip. Food was disappointing. We tried the Sunrise Cafe for brunch and Oceanside for dinner. Breakfast was subpar. My kids said the pancakes were weird (they love pancakes). The made to order omelet was runny with raw egg. I was able to request an eggs benedict. They brought me a single eggs benedict on a large empty plate. Oceanside (take-out) was better, but not great. We had a calamari and coconut shrimp app (very large portion and good flavor). My husband had a ribeye, which was overcooked. I had the blackened grouper, it lacked flavor/seasoning. We added a lobster tail - this was amazing. They would not deliver food to the villas, or any hotel rooms. We chose to eat off property for other meals. On the last day we took our time to enjoy the beach. On the way out I searched for anywhere that still offered breakfast at 11am on a week day and found that Marche Burette did, which is on property as youre driving out. It was amazing! By far the best breakfast. Im disappointed we didnt try it earlier.

Not what you expect for the price you pay for itWe booked this hotel through online third part and, after reading the reviews here, I requested an upgrade to the oceanfront captain court villa.. While a Revan was super friendly and accommodating, he explain that our room was ready, but because I requested the upgrade, it would take around 30 minutes to make sure the oceanfront room I requested was ready for me. Ok, I said and off we were to have dinner, as we got there right before 6pm and they said they would contact me when the room was ready. After dinner, around 8 PM, we went to the reception and spoke with Brianna Parker who was nothing but rude and stressed with us and loudly saying that Revan should not do that upgrade, that she doesn't know why he did that (hello, we want spend more money and the room was available, so why he shouldn't?) and she said that there was no staff available to get the room ready for us at that time (AFTER WAITING OVER 2 HOURS!!!!) So, we stand right beside her to make her uncomfortable to be treating us like that and she "disappeared" from the front desk... minutes later, already 8:30PM, we with 3 children and no room (paying $450/night!) Raven came back to the reception and with a much better attitude than Brianna got the room in few minutes... FINALLY! The villa room was ok, comfortable beds and ocean views that was worth the chaos and wait, but one of the toilet was not working, silverware was super dirty with chocolate crust on it, internet was failing all the time... not exactly what you ask for the price we paid. We did had a great time at the beach and playing with the kids, that is why I still gave a 3 stars but it does need some good manner training for some of the front desk people and cleaning/maintenance.

Villa with Great View and Easy Access to the BeachWe stayed for a week in two different 3-bedroom units in the Captains Court Villas. These are multi-level villas. The main level had the living area, kitchen, dining area and a balcony all with great views of the ocean (the villa starts on the 2nd floor of the building as the 2-bedroom units occupy the ground floor). Up half a level were two bedrooms looking out the rear of the villa with a pleasant garden view. Up another half level was the master bedroom, sitting room, and balcony overlooking the ocean. Captains Court is located immediately south of the hotel, making it convenient to walk to the hotel and use the pool and workout room (I think this requires you book the villa through Omni). The villas are privately owned and therefore vary in terms of the extent of renovation and quality of furnishings, but both of the ones we occupied were to our liking. I found the staff at the Omni to be very helpful, particularly Tabitha and Cody in the front office.

Terrible for the priceWe were told after arrival that these villas are individually owned and therefore all all different with regard to the furnishings and fixtures. The first villa we were assigned was straight out of the 80s. We changed to a larger villa and moved up a decade to the 90s, complete with VHS player and all. The bathrooms needed to be gutted. One bathtub had no drain stopper and the toilet seat had chips in it. The white grout on the floor was now black. This is not OK for $500 a night. This is a 3 star motel at 5 star hotel prices. Its a shame because the property is beautiful outside. If you can rent directly from an owner and see the unit beforehand, then you might find something better.
