  Cancelled our booking - no notification

  We were booked for a three night stay in Jan 2021. I had spoken to Jill earlier in the week and advised her NOT to cancel as we were unsure of what the border situation would be. I would call back if we wanted to cancel. I never called back, so therefore I had not cancelled our booking. I rang the morning of our stay to double check all was well with the booking and to see if we could check in earlier than 2. I couldn't even get to that question because to my utter disappointment they had cancelled our booking without even letting us know, four days earlier. I tried another accommodation facility in Port Fairy and they informed us the Victoria Apartments had done the same thing to guests on the Saturday night prior (they turned up to check in and their room had been given away also, so had to seek alternative accommodation). Apparently, our booking was cancelled due to us being NSW residents, however, we are in the "Bubble" and can travel anywhere in Victoria. They just assumed without even calling us. So angry and sad for our kids. The informed me that a group had taken our booking and there was nothing they could do. Her words were the group gets priority over my booking that I'd had since November. Disgusting. Extremely poor customer service.

  Disgusted.... never again beware!!

  Well what an awful experience... $380.00 per night for a mouldy, dirty, shoebox of a size apartment.... Upon arrival we were shocked to find the size of this room... a 1 bedroom suite they call it... honestly its a claustrophobic shoebox. Misrepresented pictures! We instantly noticed a strong odour in the room similar to mould or sour milk. Lots of stains on the carpets, hair in the sink of the bathroom and items left in the fridge from previous visitors. Not what you would expect from a hotel opening after COVID!!! I contacted reception or complain about the strong mould smell and if we could be moved to another room. I was spoken to in a condescending manner and told bluntly no more rooms and no refunds.... shocked and horrified by this response, I demanded a solution after paying a total of $1122.00 for 3 nights.. This, in short was the response We will drop in some air spray to mask the smell..... Roof is paper thin and can hear everything upstairs.... What a disappointing first experience of Port Fairy I have stayed in many hotels / apartments around the world, this is the bottom of the barrel. I would say this should be priced at $100 per night. Then you could say well, you get what you pay for

  Great spot right in town

  Perfect location right in town, close to all the good places to eat and shop. The river and beach was within walking distance if you are fit or a short car trip. We had a four night midweek stay in a one bed apartment 17A it was great for us although it was small it had a King bed(a bit firm for us) but still slept well. The ensuite was straight off the bedroom and was updated and clean the shower was hot and pressure great ....I love a good shower. The kitchenette had everything that we needed for our stay. The lockup garage was fabulous with internal entry. We loved the door that lead out to a patio on Bank Street where we sat on the outdoor setting for happy hour each arvo and chatted to friendly passing locals. We love this but if that is not you then there are apartments with Private courtyards. Even though we were on the Main Street the bedroom was quiet and dark which was great for a good nights sleep. I booked our stay online through the Victoria Apartments website and got a much better deal than the third party sites. Saving about $200 but Im not sure what the cancellation option was doing it that way. We will be coming here again to stay perfect for us it has been very relaxing. Port Fairy is one of the prettiest friendliest towns to visit.

  Poor value. Not good enough

  Dont book a one bedroom suite. It is so small. The carpet is worn through. The cups dont match. Staff dont wear masks in the office. Tap water is undrinkable and one small bottle in the fridge is two dollars a bottle. Most other places have it free. Office lady is dismissive. Save your money there are much better cheaper places in Port Fairy

  All you need in excellent location

  Super centrally located, next door to the Victoria Hotel and across the road from the oldest pub in Victoria. A 5 minute walk to the main street with many options for coffee and meal options as well as a range of shops including an artisan chocolate shop. A leisurely 10 minute stroll to the river and not far to the beaches. As for the place itself, you can either hire both floors of the townhouse or just the one bedroom, so there are two lockable doors inside and the main front door. Spacious garage, very clean and all amenities including good internet. Highly recommend a stay while in beautiful Port Fairy.
