Lowely hotellNice and fresh hotel with everything you could wish for. The staff were service-oriented and very pleasant. We enjoyed staying at the hotel and would love to come back. Nice room with nice beds. There was a small shop, massage, rental of mopeder, fresh pool, arrangement and finding in the area. Garden staff who looked sure made sure that was fine.

Beautiful resort in pristine locationStayed at this resort for 8 nights during February. It was such a lovely experience and I recommend this hotel to travellers seeking peace and quiet in a beautiful and unspoilt part of Thailand. The resort is approximately 2 - 2.5 hours drive from Phuket airport to Baan Nam Kem Pier. I used a private car transfer service called Cheaper than Hotel which cost 1,500 baht for 2 adults. The long tail boat takes 10 minutes to reach the island (60 baht for 2 people). From the pier it is a 10 minute taxi ride (300 baht) to the hotel. The hotel will pick you up if you ring them and drop you back for free. There are a variety of room types available. The deluxe terrace rooms are in the 3 storey building which overlooks the pool and the ocean. The deluxe rooms are huge, with plenty of storage, large balcony, king bed, separate shower, bath tub, mini bar, safe and TV. The villas are even more spacious and luxurious with a better standard of bathroom (jacuzzi bath tub), day bed, kind bed, separate dressing area, safe, mini bar, TV and patio. Both room types were great. The restaurant overlooks the beach and offered so many options to choose from. Thai dishes typically cost 150 - 200 baht and soft drinks were 30 baht. I really enjoyed the Thai dishes (they also offered many Western dishes too). A small shop sells soft drinks (20 baht), water, ice cream and basic supplies. The pool and beach were fantastic and there was plenty of room for everyone despite the hotel being fully occupied. You can walk for hours on the beach if heading north. The island is still untouched, just a handful of resorts and some shops / restaurants at the pier. The bird life was abundant and small lizards could be seen in the grounds. If you want to shop and party, stick to Phuket. If you want to relax and enjoy an unspoilt beach, consider Koh Kho Khao.

Hideaway beach restaurant with very good local food and limited sun beds. Local staff with good spirit. If you whant to spend your time on a nice beach, this is the right place to be. Restaurant with very good thaifood is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Sunbeds are old but functional. The Trip from Kho Kho Khao Pier to Sunset Beach takes about 30 minutes with motorbike. Drive carefully there may be some cattle crossing the road or they are on the beach.

Lovely Hotel in a Gem LocationWe spent a little over 3 weeks in Thailand and stayed in a total of 4 Hotels, The Sunset beach Resort was the first (from 27th Dec19 to 02nd Jan20), The Sands Khao Lak before our Liveaboard at the Similan Islands was the 2nd. The 3rd Hotel was Le Méridien Khao Lak Resort & Spa. After this we spent 4 days in a Bungalow at the Amazing Surin Islands. Our last Hotel was The Haven Khao Lak (Adults only). I will post reviews separately for each Hotel. We booked the Sunset Beach Resort as we were looking for a holiday with just the sun, sand and sea, away from the mad crowds and the Hotel was absolutely perfect for it. The beach is not crystal clear and blue like the Maldives but we loved the long and picturesque beaches. We stayed at the Sunset Pool View Villa and it was absolutely beautiful, modern and clean. Ive never stayed in such a huge Villa. The bed was super comfortable and we could not get out of it. Better than the Villas in our 3 previous Maldivian Holidays. The food at the Sunset Beach resort was delicious and reasonably priced. During our 3 week Holiday in Thailand we ate at several restaurants, experienced 4 Hotels and have to say the food at The Sunset Beach Resort were consistently delicious, the portion sizes were very generous. The menu is huge and varied. The drinks and cocktails were also very delicious, much better than the drinks at the 5* Le Meridian. The breakfast wasnt huge but it was nonetheless delicious. Note, of the 4 Hotels we stayed in, The Sunset was the only place we had mangos. We read some reviews of guests complaining about Chinese tourists and were very concerned. Im pleased to report that they spent most of the day sightseeing and came back late in the afternoon for the sunset. They also had dinner very early and we never had any problems. Getting to the island is very easy. From Phuket International Airport we booked a service called Cheaper than Hotels, Based in Khao Lak (check their Facebook account) and paid 1400 BHT to be dropped off at the pier (They we amazing). You then have to pay for the long tail boat and get a from the pier to the Hotel. On our way back we booked our transfer to Khao Lak from the Hotel and it was better as the Hotel organises the Taxi to the Pier and instead of a long tail boat you are transferred to the pier in a more stable and comfortable boat.
