Great service, old roomsWe stayed in this hotel for two nights because of its location - close to the university which I wanted to visit. I knew that this hotel had been here for many, many years. I was not sure if it was still a quality hotel like it was many years ago, so I took my chances. When we arrived I was happy to see a beautifully decorated lobby, but I was quickly disappointed when we got to our room. I could tell it was once a very nice room, with exotic touches in the decor. However, it could have used some work to keep it from looking old and rundown. Honestly, a good repainting of the walls and door trims could make a difference! Even the hallways could have used a fresh coat of paint, and brighter lights as it was dark and dingy looking! We did enjoy the buffet at breakfast - the food was very good and there was a variety to choose from. The location of the dining area was nice with a very pleasant view of the pool area. The best thing about this hotel is the very friendly and attentive service. I cannot say enough good things about everybody who works here who made sure our needs were taken care of - always checking if we needed something. But does this make up for the poor quality of the rooms? I'm not sure I would stay here again if I'm back in this area unless I'm sure that they've worked on updating their rooms.

Nice pool, good food but needs improvementsRooms are spacious, nice pool, good food. Yet, no instant coffee in room (only decaf! really!), no fitness center (only pool), my room didn't have a desk (to charge my computer or use the kettle, I had to put them on the floor), to charge your cellphone near the bed, you have to pull out the bedside table to find the plug, and you have to order a hairdryer from housekeeping. These are all things that are so easily fixable and should be a priority to bring the hotel up to international standards.

AT HOMEMy husband and I planned to stay only for a couple of days. At first we were a bit disappointed because the room assigned to us is located beside the basement bar and on the road street side which you can hear the noise from the streets. But after telling this to their manager they immediately moved us to a room overlooking the pool side area. We really appreciated the relaxing view, its ambiance and the European, old-fashioned inspired architectural design. We decided to extend our stay and invited over our family to see the place. The staffs are very accommodating to our requests and very courteous to guests. We only wanted to suggest to improve the lighting facilities inside the room and should have a pantry which guests can use to heat food bought from outside since their resto closes after 12 mn. But all in all we highly recommend this hotel. We thank Mr. Arjay Candelaria for the hospitality.

Good locationI wanted to do a lot of work over the weekend and I want peace and quiet. They also serve good breakfast. Staff are okay, no negative feedback for them. Too bad the Taal volcanp spewed ashes that week, I cannot use the pool.
