  Beware

  This hotel cancelled my reservation at 4:30 AM the day of my arrival due to overbooking and made no effort to remedy the situation. Just let me high and dry the weekend we were moving my son in at NCSU.

  Wonderful Stay

  My husband and I stayed here over the weekend. We decided to take the kids (4 month old and 4 year old) to our parents and have a much needed Staycation. I have nothing but great things to say. Perfect location, friendly staff, quiet, spacious clean room, great restaurant and the pool/outdoor area was the icing on the cake. I also loved the fact that everyone there both people visiting and staff respected the (COVID) Mask policy, as well as the contactless check-in/out that made us feel safe. Last but not least- special thanks to Mr. David Fridvalszki for going above and beyond for us. We will definitely be back again.

  Outstanding experience

  We had an outstanding time at the StateView hotel! My wife and I will return! Now our experience in the restaurant with the Executive Cheff, Waitus Leake and our Host and Server, Phil Rosbottom was exceptionally rewarding. Each day we were greeted warmly with exceptional service and quality in our dining experience. Friendly conversation with a genuine desire to take care of us was demonstrated each visit. Thank you for making our trip memorable.

  Average Marriott Rebranded as Autograph Collection

  We chose this hotel for a quick impromptu get-away when the Autograph Collection hotel we first chose was booked (Chapel Hill - UNC had a home game). There was nothing seriously wrong with this hotel, other than some mold in the bathroom and some damaged to the trim and furniture (see pictures), but it was not what I have come to expect from an Autograph Collection hotel. Even the furnishings and finishes felt more like a moderate Marriott or even a nicer/newer SpringHill Suites-type hotel. I am glad we got a good rate because if we had paid what we usually do in an Autograph Collection hotel, I would have been seriously disappointed. The lobby was clean, but smelled of a cleaner that strongly resembled a group of teenage boys and Axe body spray. On the morning of Day 2, while cleaning was actively happening, the smell was much stronger. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The location on NC States Centennial Campus is lovely. Our view was dominated by the back roof (see picture), but did include the tree line and Lake Raleigh. Would I return? Depends on why Im going and how busy the area is. This would not be my first choice.

  Nice place to stay during Covid 19

  We stayed at this hotel over the Labor Day weekend. This is a smaller hotel located on the campus of NC State University. It does have a nice, albeit small, pool, and a nice on-premises restaurant. We only had a later-evening snack at the restaurant, but the food came out quickly, and it was well prepared and tasty. We lounged at the pool twice, and both times were quiet and relaxing. The room was clean and well-appointed, with USB ports EVERYWHERE. That's so convenient in this day and age with connected devices. The room we stayed in had its own mini refrigerator, and the hallways were quiet. There were not a lot of guests at the hotel, and in fact, the NC State campus was completely devoid of students as the college had gone to online learning. There was no room cleaning service offered during this time, which was completely understandable, and we wouldn't have wanted cleaning staff in and out of our rooms due to the pandemic. This hotel provides a near-luxury experience, and the staff members were all extremely friendly. The only complaint I have is that not all staff members were that vigilant in their mask wearing. We saw at least two staff members improperly wearing masks by only covering their mouths but not their noses. We saw one of the staff persons doing this pretty much the entire time we stayed, so it wasn't like this was a on-time event. Management should remind staff members to cover both their mouths and their noses when wearing masks to ensure that all guests are comfortable with their experience. But other than that, this was a top notch stay.
