  Disappointing

  I would love to be giving 5 stars. The food was a delicious roast beef lunch, my daughter loved her macaroni cheese. Everything beautifully cooked and very tasty. The play area is great. However, we left feeling really sad that the staff were rude, abrupt, snappy and gave the impression they really didn't want to be there. The staff ruin this potentially great pub and unfortunately do spoil the experience. Not what you would expect having spent £67 on lunch for 2 adults and one child. Perhaps they do not want repeat business.

  Superb

  Whilst visiting lingfield we spotted the STAR INN and decided on having our evening meal there .we opted for a table on the outside terracing as it was a lovely warm evening .All staff were extremely helpful in explaining the Covid 19 regulations and we felt very safe . In particular BEN who served us was a very friendly and polite member of the staff . Food and menu very good and the Harveys bitter went down a treat !! Recommend this pub/restaurant to anyone in the lingfield area looking for a good meal out.

  Poor Service

  Average service. Rushed and constantly watched nearing kickout time. We were the only ones in the pub for the last two hours but it really made the experience unenjoyable having your conversation interrupted every 2 minutes for the last half hour by being told to leave. Management didnt appreciate the feedback! For cheap drinks, great. Memorable night, no.

  A warm welcome and excellent food

  We were so pleased to have a get together for lunch with our daughter and baby today. We were made very welcome outside, where we wished to sit, with good arrangements for not very good weather, such as a covered terrace, well-spaced tables and heaters. The food was of a very good standard and quickly served, and they were still operating a half price main meals system. So we also had desserts which were tremendous, The mlni dessert with a drink was exquisitely served. We will be back, Thank you very much

  Very disappointed

  We stayed at the star for 1 night to meet a family member who lives in lingfield. Arrived to find one if our rooms hadn't been confirmed by Expedia, so we had to pay again. Told we would have to chase a refund from Expedia. Not their responsibility (not a good start). Went to our room. Clean, but basic. We decided to have a drink. NO social distancing in place. No plastic screens inbetween tables, booths etc. Far too many diners. You are encouraged to wear face masks when walking around. Our table was reserved for 6.00. Again, far too many diners. We have eaten here before, and to my mind no tables have been removed to enable distancing. Definitely no plastic screens. The owners seem to care more about profits than safety. Very short staffed so waited a while to pay our bill. Then told they wouldn't take cash! Had to march back to our table, passed a whole host of people, to pay by card as that is deemed safer!!! The staff, who were on duty, were quite irritable - probably due to how much they were having to do. No management apparent. The food, itself, was lovely. Just the safety and customer service sadly lacking. I wouldn't recommend
