  Lassus Hodnett Wedding

  This past weekend my daughter got married and the Southern Hotel hosted her reception and the accommodations. I cannot say enough great things about the hotel and the staff. The service we received the entire time was 5 star. Danelle made sure our every need was taken care of. The night of our dinner Cassie was incredible in taking care of our every need. The dinner prepared by Ox Lot 9 was excellent in every course served. Our family and friends were all impressed with everything about the hotel. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean. Since we had to have a reduced reception this year, we have already booked the full reception in 2021 at the Southern Hotel. I highly recommend Southern Hotel as a wedding venue, vacation/staycation, or dinner at Ox Lot 9.

  Charming hotel, would like to spend more time.

  My wife and I were on a long road trip from Michigan to Texas, this hotel was a pleasant oasis on our trip. Very clean and relaxing, we especially enjoyed the little courtyard with night lighting and the spanish moss covered tree. Wish we could have stayed another night.

  Wonderful Staff & Hotel

  Please let me preface my comments with that I rarely write reviews and secondly I travelled to more than a hundred countries over a thirty-five year period and have stayed in hotels considered to be the best in the world. My wife and I had the need to come to Covington and typically stay with family, but do to COVID-19 we thought it best to stay in a hotel. This was our first stay at the Southern Hotel and it could not have been better. The hospitality of the staff was incredible. Victoria was absolutely wonderful helping us with our requests and talking to us.....she is absolutely wonderful and creates such a welcoming and helpful environment. The gentleman performing maintenance tasks could not have been nicer or more welcoming. Our room and the hotel public spaces were fantastic, but it is the staff that makes a hotel and that is what makes this property so wonderful. On the occasion we will need a place to stay in Covington in the future, there is absolutely no doubt we will be staying at the Southern Hotel.

  Wanted to love it

  We booked a night at the Southern for our anniversary and a night away from our kids amidst the pandemic for some much needed peace & quiet. By 9:00 PM we were painfully aware that we would be sharing our room with the (very loud) wedding occurring in the courtyard directly outside our windows. While everything was generally very nice, it wouldve been great to have been notified we wouldnt have a second of silence until after 11 PM. So maybe check with them before you book to know if you have a courtyard room & if theres a wedding occurring in it.

  Loved it!

  The Southern Hotel is located in downtown COVINGTON. Its convenient to wonderful galleries and shopping. Its a beautifully accommodation. The Lobby area and bars are handsomely decorated with a warm but still upscale feel. The only reason that I didnt give it 5 stars is that getting coffee in the morning is not convenient. You either have to get dressed to go to the lobby or wait until someone brings it to your room.
