Won't be backRevisited after a great but limited visit 3 weeks previously. Unfortunately the wonderful Duleepa was off and with him goes any semblance of welcome this hotel could bother to muster. We were informed we could it check in until 4pm, but eventually arrived at 5:45pm. We first arrived at 11am but could not check in so had a drink and moved on. The world's smallest coffee in the world's biggest cup being the highlight. We were also informed that though they were advertising a breakfast it was a continental one which as we al know is done with out the need for a cooker. It was a packed lunch previously. On returning the bar had 10-15 people in so we went and checked in and sorted ourselves out. We got to the bar at 8:25 to be told the bar was closed. We could pay cash only for drinks but had to have them in our room. Our previous visit we had played music on the jukebox and had a friendly chat with Duleepa, even sharing our take away with him and his new boss. The new boss you will identify by his total lack of personality. He explained that the bar didn't actually have to open. With the restaraunt also being closed you had to ask if we were actually allowed into the rooms to sleep. As we were only an hour from home and not wanting to have to go to bed and watch the TV we said we would leave and having been in the room for 3:30 hrs and used no facility I asked for our money back. Obviously this was never going to happen, but we had by then decided to leave. Personally we won't be returning but should you havd to reserve a room here, ensure Duleepa is working. If not, pack a couple of sandwiches and sleep on a park bench outside. It's much the same thing really.

post COVID :DStayed at the hotel for couple of nights with my boyfriend. The checkin was easy and staff very polite. The guy was wearing a mask and also kept his distance with us. Even cleaned the room keys before handing it to us which I thought was a nice touch according to the global pandemic these days. Room was nice and cosy, The bathroom was small but clean which is a key factor for us. Restaurant was not open due to COVID but the bar was and had a good selection. The barnan was attentive and friendly. We had a complimentary WiFi which was a bonus. Very nice !

never aganWe went to the Shurlands on a afternoon just for a few drinks. I parked in the carpark. We went inside ordered our drinks. The glasses where dirty and i had to ask for new drinks on several occasions. The bartender didnt seem to understand me so he had to call someone else and i had to explain again that i demanded new drinks. We stayed for a few hrs then left. In the next week i received a parking ticket for a 100 pound that i have parked in the dedicated carpark. This is not on. We are never going there again

Lovely staff Room disappointingStayed here for a couple of nights The staff were lovely all very helpful and the food in the restaurant was good value and prepared and presented well, so top marks to the chef. Breakfast was included in the room rate, it was continental style which was fine, but if you wanted to have English style you had to pay an extra £6.50 add on, which I thought was expensive considering I had already been charged with original booking. I had booked a deluxe double which sadly was far below the standard I expected. The room was cold and badly needed updating. Furniture was damaged and the bed was in need of replacement. The bathroom was clean but shabby with a poor shower. Despite the overall poor condition of the furnishings the room was clean enough I think the website photos are misleading as to the general quality of the accommodation and the management should review this
