Good positionWe've just got back from 5 day break with Shearings. Best Shearings hotel we've stayed in. Lovely position, good room, good choice of food. Would certainly go back to this hotel. We had room 3 overlooking the garden.

Happy with the hotelWe stayed at the hotel on a Shearrings 5 day holiday with trips to Portsmouth and Salisbury. It is a very nice hotel, especially for the money paid and staff were pleasant. We were on the first floor so managed without having to wait for the lift. The food was good on the whole with an excellent breakfast with a wide choice of hot and cold food. The starters and desserts in the evening were very good, but the main course not as much so, beef casserole which was very chewy, Turkey Escalope which was hard and difficult to cut, chips not very nice. There was entertainment each evening but it consisted of a man singing for two hours, different ones and all very good but a lady singer one evening or a duo or something different would perhaps have been better. There was a quiz as well one evening and Bingo one afternoon.

Enjoyable StayWe had a lovely few days at the Bay Savoy. We made our own to Bournemouth, we liked the idea of pre-booking the car space in the hotels car park, it saves the hassle of trying to find a parking space. We were allocated a lovely room overlooking the gardens with a sea view. The hotel is very well managed with lovely staff who went out of their way to make sure that we enjoyed our stay. We very much enjoyed the evening entertainment particularly boogieing to the 60s & 70s songs. We will definitely go back and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anybody.

4-night stay with a Shearings coach tourI travelled solo with an organised coach tour. I was given room 101, which seemed somewhat ominous. It was probably the worst room Id ever stayed in. It is a single room with a single bed and is situated at the front of the hotel.I was rather surprised that I had been charged a single supplement. The decor is very tired, the radiator leaked, the bathroom is dire and there was a lack of toilet paper. I reported the problems to reception on my way to dinner, expecting that at least the loo paper would have been replenished by the time I returned to my room - but no ! My comments were met with no reaction by the young man on duty. I made a second request next morning on my way to breakfast. This time there was a comment but no apology. By this time the loo roll had run out completely. I reinforced my request with a note to the roomcleaner and I found results on my return later in the day. Luckily I needed to spend the minimum time in the room. On a brighter note, the public areas were very acceptableand the food adequate. The day trips were well planned and the coach drivers friendly and informative.

A weekend escape with a view!I had a short 2 night break here last year at a bargain price and left the car at home. The Savoy has a bus stop outside where you can get the open top bus towards Swanage passing the lovely Compton Acres gardens en route and then on towards Sandbanks and across on the ferry to Studland. I had a single room with a balcony and a view towards the sea and the cliff top was very handy for a stroll after my included evening meal! There was some kind of entertainment in the evening but I preferred to walk.
