Delicious Carvery & Loved the Dessert Trolley!

My husband and myself visited in March, I pre booked a table. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed and taken to our table. We both decided to have a carvery which was freshly cooked, hot with a selection of meats (turkey, beef, pork) and vegetarian. Plenty of accompaniments to choose from - Yorkshire Pudding, chippolata, roast potato, carrot, mashed potato, cauliflower cheese, peas, gravy and sauces. I had Turkey and my husband had beef. The meat was delicious as was the vegetables, etc, all really tasty. The chef serving was also friendly and polite. We also had a dessert and I loved that the Dessert Trolley was wheeled out. It was good you could see the desserts to choose from and there were hot puddings listed on the board. I had a mint chocolate dessert and my husband had a chocolate sponge with custard. Both decent portions and nice. We both thought that the service was exceptional, all the staff we encountered were very friendly and efficient (we both even commented at the time of dining how good we thought the staff were). This is our second carvery here and it won't be our last. We both thought the food was lovely (and much nicer than other carveries we have been to). Thank you :-)

    Lovely people & place

Me & my boyfriend dropped into the pub on a whim as we were cycling & camping at Salhouse broad! Ended up popping in for pints and some food the next two days. The pub feels really safe (in these weird times) and has a great outdoor seating area. Live music on a Thursday, lovely staff, great beer & good food. Didnt see camping at the pub itself as an option when we were looking for places but almost definitely may be back to give it a try next time!

    Nice stay but had problems

We stayed in the superior room which we thought was quite expensive. It was nicely decorated and a good size bedroom and bathroom. However, I had an online meeting in the afternoon for work and the WiFi wasn't working so I had to cancel which was frustrating. WiFi was poor throughout our stay but we were not warned of this. Could not get hot water for a shower and there was a lot of dust in the room. We did enjoy listening to the live music (Thursday night), but we were not made aware of this so it's a good job we didn't want an early night! Everyone outside looked like they were having fun but we stayed in our room. Breakfast included was OK and service was OK too. Wouldn't stay again unfortunately.

    WHAT A SUPRISE

Having previously gone to the Malsters the week before, on the way back we saw a notice board beside the road saying B BQ and Live Music on Sundays 3.30-6.30, so we booked for last Sunday afternoon, a group was playing The Floating Greyhounds, who were very good, , as we drove up we could see loads of cars so we thought this means this will be good.and it was, we could sit indoors or outside and on arrival we were met with very friendly staff, who showed to us to our table. We chose the carvery lots of choice, very friendly chef who loaded the plate to our choosing.our drinks were brought to our table. Overall a great day out all for £35 for two of us including an full bottle of wine. The carvery was £8.95. best price for a long time.

    Good food at good value

We've not been for a long time, since before it's closure so were keen to try here again. Sunday lunch was very pleasant everyone's food was good at a very reasonable price, with a nice glass of ghost ship too, the roast was served at your table, good portion size, the staff were busy but helpful. The bar and restaurant were set up safely for social distancing. The only negative is the furniture and decor is 20 years old, but understandable having been closed for a year or two and will take time to refurbish, we enjoyed our meal thanks.
