  Superb

  Had a wonderful meal tonight. Food was very good, good customer service, Peaceful environment. Highly recommend the king prawn starter and black pudding starter. Steak cooked to perfection! Son really enjoyed his mini bored with ham, sausage, cheese, bread sticks carrots, apple and celery! - worth every penny! Cant wait to return soon

  Fantastic!

  My partner and I stayed here for a few nights over Christmas and it was wonderful. The Inn itself is in a great location in the centre of Keswick and is lovely and cosy downstairs with log burning fires and cask ales - But what made it extra special was the staff. Our room was upgraded which was a nice surprise, we had a separate couch and TV area which was great for relaxing on Christmas Day afternoon, and it was spotless, comfy and warm. The food was also great, we had Christmas dinner and Ill be honest I had low expectations just because I sometimes find restaurant Xmas food not that good - But this was great! Breakfast was also superb. And we ate here on boxing Day evening as well, and it was just as good. But the staff were lovely, everyone on Christmas Day, at breakfast, behind the bar and the days after, they were great, personable, friendly and helpful. And I think given all the uncertainty with COVID and hospitality at the minute, it was so nice to be able to stay somewhere and have such a warm welcome during difficult and stressful times, it really did make our stay for us! Hope to be back soon, thanks so much to the team at the Royal Oak.

  Average Hotel

  We booked The Royal Oak in December for a weekend away. Overall the room was a good size and decorated nice and cosy. I liked the fact I had a dressing table, a sofa and also plenty of hangers for our clothes. The light up mirror in the bathroom was also great. Unfortunately I would say the cleanliness of the room was 7/10. As a non dog owner, I could tell dogs are allowed in the hotel and feel that decorative cushions and bed spreads could be more thoroughly cleaned. Also due to Covid restrictions, staff were unable to clean the room until we checked out - it would be a great idea to keep a little basket of cleaning essentials during someones stay perhaps? We also found our room beyond noisy. We were right next to the stairs which meant we constantly heard people going up and down, doors banging - is there a staff room or office on the first floor as when we looked it seemed to be staff back and forth. On the first night we also found it strange that dance music played until 11pm in the pub below. The food however was excellent! We had breakfast every morning, and it was soo tasty. The service was fantastic as well, the staff were so polite, friendly and attentive - a real credit to the pub/hotel. I probably wouldnt stay again for the reasons mentioned, but I wouldnt hesitate to come in for food or a drink.

  Nice food

  Can here with family and I really liked my food and thought that the placehad a friendly atmosphere. My sister said her meal was very different from last time so must be different with different chefs.

  Helpful and flexible

  I accidentally booked a non refundable reservation and unfortunately had to cancel. The manager at the hotel was very helpful and refunded my booking not withstanding that my booking was non refundable
