Our go to place ......This is our favourite place to stay and we have been going here for five or six years now. Perhaps longer. Dogs very welcome in all of the rooms and at no extra charge which is an added bonus. The staff are always considerate and courteous and have always gone out of their way to make us feel welcome, going above and beyond at times. We always enjoy walking along the railway path to the north and south of the village and during our recent stay took the bus (hourly service, stops right outside) to Barnard Castle which was pretty easy. It is a 6 mile walk along the Tees railway path back to the Rose and Crown. Likewise you could bus the 5 miles to Middleton and walk back. The staff need to be commended for their consistent and quality service during such difficult times. The food was outstanding. Premises, rooms, restaurant all very very well kept and clean. Covid measures applied with common sense. All great

Excellent stay. This is one of our favourite places to stay. The staff are very welcoming and it felt very safe with the Covid 19 precautions. We were in one of the courtyard rooms to the rear of the Inn. Very comfortable, lots of space and a decent modern bathroom. Fresh milk available and newspapers delivered in the morning. Nice little area to sit out. Plentiful, easy parking. We ate dinner two nights running in the panelled dining room. First rate food - though I particularly enjoyed the fish and chips. Good choice at breakfast. Excellent service. Romaldkirk is a charming village. Good walks on the doorstep or a fine base to venture further. Handy for Barnard Castle. Seats outside facing the village green. Ideal for a sundowner in the right weather. The Inn is very dog friendly. I am not (alas, an allergy). But given the lay out and the considered approach of both guests and staff, both dogs and I were very happy. Highly recommended.

BteamBrillliant country hotel....food, wine comfort just excellent. Covid precortions first rate without being obtrusive...well done all of you. We were made welcome from first to last. This is the 26th year the Bteam have sallied forth and the R&C is among the best. The countryside is stunning but what else would you get from YORKSHIRE! Thank you

Delicious Sunday LunchWe visited as a couple for a Sunday Lunch in October, after a morning walking to High Force waterfall. It was our first visit and definitely not our last when we are in the area. The pub is lovely, with a very nice Dining Room. We both had Roasts; Beef and Lamb with Yorkshire Puddings. The food was delicious, with plenty of vegetables, lovely gravy and the meat was perfectly cooked. For pudding, we shared a Stick Toffee Pudding, and I have to say it was the best I have ever tasted! So light and fluffy with loads of Black Treacle flavour. I would love the recipe. A big Thankyou to the Chefs for such a lovely meal. Service was good, and attentive, and the pub was immaculately clean and well presented with Covid measures in place. I highly recommend the Rose and Crown .

So Very Nice!We had lunch the other day with my daughter and family. We all really enjoyed our meals. The service was excellent and the Covid rules were closely adhered to. The mushroom soup was excellent as was the beef bourgignon pie. The chips were proper chips too! We were well spaced in the lounge and very comfortable on a wet and windy day. Would highly recommend.
