  A pleasant Experience

  Week two here surprisingly the budget room lacks little compared to last weeks regular room in fact washroom en suite was much newer amd better in fact. Great value at only £40 per night. Good food available bar prices are fair although an option of an Ale would be an improvement. Quiet dispite being sited next to the A12.

  afternoon tea

  I had afternoon tea here a few days ago. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The waitress was delightful with a ready smile and the food was delicious especially the scones which were newly made and very tasty. I will definitely go again. iain

  Function

  We orgainised a function recently at this hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, particularly Laura who helped us organise the event. Everyone who attended praised the hotel on their friendly staff and the wonderful buffet that was served during the evening.

  Beware! Sloppy Booking procedure.

  Stayed here in October 2019 and having attended two successful family birthday celebrations here over the last 3 years we decided to book my 65th birthday party for October 2020 here as well. We spoke to the Conference and events coordinator who gave us a breakdown of costs and menu etc for two Family Rooms and two Doubles plus the hire of a Functions room. We asked her to book this for us which was a full year in advance and even offered to pay a deposit but she said it wasn't necessary as the only money required up front a month before was the payment for the meals with the bedrooms and breakfasts being paid on checkout. Due to the lockdown we had no further contact and upon the Hotel reopening on 3rd August we rang to make sure the booking was still ok. We were told yes it was ok and the coordinator would be in touch a month before hand to sort our meal choices. Upon receiving the confirmation that everything was fine we sent out invitations to family members to confirm the function. Days off work were booked by some, hair appointments booked by others and a cake was ordered. However on 10th August we received a phone call to say our booking was cancelled due to the hotel receiving a large corporate booking and our rooms were no longer available. At this late stage we have tried to find a similar alternative venue but with little success. All I can say is we are glad we hadn't booked a wedding here as if this is an example of how they regard returning clients in lieu of larger corporate bookings it would have been an even bigger let down.

  Absolute dive, terrible rooms, terrible shower, rooms were freezing with masking tape covering the seals on the single glazed windows and whatever you do forget about using the dribble showers because bit only will they be as much use as a chocolate teapot but your whole room will be like a steam room
