Excellent cappuccino and breakfast. Great Inn in great area.· We really enjoyed our 5 days stay at the Redan Inn in Chilcompton. Great location in this village, with jewels like Wells, Glanstonbury, Bath and Bristol being within half hour drive or less. Very interesting area all around: historically, architecturally and culturally, and full of natural beauty. The Redan Inn serves a top quality "Italian" Cappuccino, with the right balance of excellent full bodied coffee and milk, a rare thing in GB, YET! Merci Bien Aurelie ! It was such a joy and pleasure to take the first sip of my Cappuccino in the morning, Wonderful! A shot of Life! Breakfast was also excellent. a good choice of freshly cooked produce, locally sourced. Very good quality cooking and ingredients. And the background music was also a treat with some of my favourites rare acts such as Gotan Project, Buena Vista Social Club etc, and blues, jazz, chill electronic and more, Sheer bliss. Evening food at the popular Pub was also excellent. You pay for it but, given the price of GOOD quality nowadays, it is within reason. And Fred looked after us very well, offering good sound advice on food and drinks. Excellent local ales and ciders are on offer too. I love staying in good Inns as it makes life easy and comfortable. Such pleasure. So thank you very much to The Redan Inn, and in particular Aurelie and Fred for such an enjoyable stay. ** Luigi and Ruth

Some good, some not soWe stayed in room 5, lovely and clean, but I should have inquired about headroom, as it was in the eaves and my husband is tall!!(my fault)Room lovely and warm.We had dinner on both nights, both nights very good. At breakfast the toast was sourdough- and was very hard!! 2nd morning asked for toast, this was also a bit crusty!! The only problem we had was on the 2nd night, we were woken up at 12.15am, by music from the bar, I stuck it out until 12.45am, but you couldn't sleep through it, so I went down to the bar, to find about 6 men still drinking and music on, when I explained to the barman, he did apologise and turn the music off(the speakers as attached to the ceiling- so noise travels via the floor). Only other observation - larger bath towels please!!

Christmas covid stayFred went above and beyond to accommodate our stay. We were arriving on 24th December and due to last minute plans we asked last minute if we could come in two hours on the night of 23rd. Fred opened the hotel just for us, and offered us a plater on arrival, he was there in the pouring rain to meet us. We new there was no Christmas or boxing day breakfast, however Fred had put a full size fridge on the landing for our Christmas drinks and nibbles, and then left us on Christmas eve with freshly cooked croissants and jams for breakfast, he had supplied a range of glassed and ice buckets and cooked a wonderful Christmas eve lunch. We felt very welcome and nothing was any trouble. In normal times his hospitality would have been amazing, but in these unsettled times it was very kind considerate and thoughtful, nothing was too much trouble. Our stay was the best.

Good food, great service, lovely comfortable rooms. Will come backWe'd arranged friends to join us as a surprise and the staff helpfully managed to keep the secret until the reveal moment. They went the extra mile throughout our weekend. Jake was particularly helpful. Rooms gorgeous, tastefully decorated, comfortable and thankfully warm (with Storm Ciara brewing outside). Lovely toileteries in the bathroom (roll-top bath and walk-in wet room/shower). We were in Room 1 overlooking the garden (two marques up to allow Six Nations Rugby watching). We ate lunch, dinner and breakfast at the pub. All the food was excellent. The breakfast menu is particularly fabulous with an unsually varied offering (from the obvious full English and smashed avocado on toast to american pancakes with bacon and maple syrup). We'd planned to go walking through the Mendips but the weather was so bad that we hunkered down in the pub and couldn't have been happier or made to feel more at home.
