Very nice lunch in a welcoming pubGood quality food and very helpful staff (even allowed us to charge our e-bike inside while we ate). One to come back to. Menu not overly complicated, but did all the basics well. Lovely garden area outside too, and nice and quiet.

LunchWe booked for lunch, ive been before but not for a few years. Sunday roast was great, service was brilliant and it was an Ell round good experience and I would highly recommend a trip out from Cambridge on a sunny day

DisappointingLooked warm and welcoming for lunch on their website, but turned out not to be so. It was miserable and wet outside, and it was pretty cheerless inside. Cold day, no heating, no fires no hot water in the toilet. Food was Ok but not exceptional. It was served hot as was the coffee. Service was adequate but not exceptional. Plenty of parking, and toilets for those less mobile although front door access for a wheelchair looks a bit tight. Pricing.. Well.. £15 for a burger or fish and chips.. Perhaps a little on the high side.

Fine But Dont Go The Extra MileSo we visited just before the second lockdown and that may have affected things, but..... Ive reviewed this pub before and would really like to rate it better. Its a good looking pub in a nice little village, pretty local for us so should be a go-to place for a pint and a meal after a country walk. The problem is that they never quite seem to deliver. We really enjoyed the food on this occasion, but the guy who initially greeted us and took our order really didnt seem very bothered about his customers and whilst we were content that the pub was COVID-safe they dont seem to have made much effort to demonstrate that. Many pubs will be fighting for survival in this period. A smile on entry and some sense we were welcome would have been nice.

Fabulous pies and on the upWe are regulars here, but the chef seems to be getting better and better. Not only are the pies delicious with super light pastry, but the smaller dishes (eg hake are getting quite Cheffy with lots of stylish touches rare to find in a pub. Also a new cavernous tent means its pretty safe for those worried about Covid.
