  Lovely stay

  The hotel is really nice with comfy rooms and incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Laura was very welcoming. Nice small touches like the free biscuits in the room. However in some respects the weekend stay has been soured for me as I have been waiting since Tuesday am for a call back from the manager Nigel and have twice chased but still nothing. Such a shame when the rest of the trip was so great.

  Clean, comfortable room

  Stayed for two nights while working in the town. A very convenient central location. The member of staff on duty when I arrived wasn't all that welcoming, and the bar area wasn't to my taste, but the room was super clean, the en-suite all gleaming as though it was brand new and had never been used before. It had all the facilities you'd expect and a good comfortable bed. I couldn't sample the restaurant as it was closed while I was there. Breakfast was pretty much the standard low-cost breakfast common to most cheaper hotels and pubs, and perfectly acceptable if you're not looking for fine dining.

  Bank Holiday weekend.

  Stayed at the Red Lion Hotel for the bank holiday weekend. The hotel is very well established in the town centre, and all of the management and staff were excellent and very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean and tidy. thei Stayed in was lovely. I will be recommending everyone and anyone to stay at this charming hotel. I will be staying here again in the near future. Thank you everyone at the hotel for your excellent service.

  Socially Distanced Getaway with Friends

  Made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived!!!Room exceptionally clean and all amenities provided (including some well received biscuits) Whilst the hotel restaurant was not open due to COVID the hotel staff provided us with the restaurant space to eat our takeaway in (including plates and cutlery) Breakfast was excellent, enough to set you up for the day ( in our case a 10 mile local walk). Nice and central to either go on walks or visit shops or the recommended Ayscoughfee Hall and Museum. Wouldnt hesitate to come again!!... Well done The Red Lion and lovely staff in what are difficult times for the hospitality industry!

  Socially distanced weekend away with friends

  All staff were very welcoming, friendly & helpful-nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spot on for cleanliness & the bed was very comfortable. The hotel did a great job at implementing guidelines regarding coronavirus & enabling us to maintain social distancing whilst in the hotel. The hotel restaurant was closed due to the pandemic but the staff set up the dining room for us, allowing us to enjoy a take away together. Top marks for being so accommodating & enabling us to enjoy our weekend away together despite the current difficult circumstances.
