  Perfection!

  So enjoyed our first visit to Putney VT and loved this Inn! Dennis was very helpful with restaurants, antique shops, cross country ski rentals. (The local ski shop told us where some great trails were.) The rooms were spacious and beautiful. The breakfast was healthy and fresh. Homemade muffins, local eggs and their own smoked ham! The rooms were at a comfortable temp and the towels were soft and fluffy - a little thing but so nice. Plenty of tea, coffee, bottled water, home baked snacks including fresh straw with whipped cream - yummy! Really sweet couple owns the Inn. We are coming back.

  LOVE LOVE LOVE

  Hickory Ridge House is a beautiful old Inn, in pristine condition, with wonderful period furnishings, located in a bucolic setting. What more could you ask for? My 18 year old son reports: I slept like a baby. The Innkeepers are charming and friendly and made us a gourmet breakfast. Seriously. To recount: pineapple/coconut muffins, fruit salad with freshly whipped cream, locally sourced bacon, and a veggie omelet. I messed up our online booking and the Innkeepers fixed the issue in a jiffy, which was much appreciated. There are all sorts of cozy nooks in this Inn if you want to read or knit or just be. Honestly, we adored this place and hope to return soon. Given the slew of homogenous hotels out there, this is a find.

  Lovely place

  A wonderful old inn, cozy and lots of charm. The innkeepers were both friendly and helpful. I especially appreciated the laminated pocket maps they provide for local running and hiking routes. They are also very knowledgeable about fun Vermonty things to do and yummy local foods. Having access to cold drinks and snacks, and an early morning coffee pot were also much appreciated. Breakfast was healthy, gourmet and delicious! Only tip is that breakfast is a multi course meal so don't be in a hurry!

  Will I return? Certainly not.

  The property looks idyllic on its website. The breakfast was fine if you like being told what to eat with no choice. Our room at the back of the house looked nothing like the pictures with a very poor bathroom.. The towels were OK but not luxurious as indicated. The checkout is at 11am and as we were preparing to leave our room (granted a few minutes late) the owner knocked on the door and asked us to vacate. No assistance was offered with the luggage and when it was left in the hall I was told to take it out to the car. I then needed to use my laptop and sat unobtrusively in a parlour. At noon the owner insisted that I leave the premises as i had checked out. I am not an animal lover and found the house dog was roaming all over the property and climbing on me which is not really acceptable. Very expensive for what it was. Rude owners with a level of cheek i don't recall seeing for a long time. Will I return? Certainly not.

  Just an overnight stay

  A well appointed comfortable old inn with that New England charm that exceeds what one would expect from the pics on their website. Room was comfortable and the innkeepers were most helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was a delightful gourmet treat, with the freshest of ingredients, excellently prepared and presented. We were in Putney to visit the grandson at school and will likely return to the area with some regularity. There is no question that the Hickory Ridge House will be our choice for accommodation when next in the Putney area.
