  A must visit, hidden gem

  I was attracted to this B & B in Elizabeth City, NC by the photos on the internet. The photos didn't do it justice. Everything about this destination is superb from the main building, to the rooms with river views, and the enormous and delicious breakfasts. A further enticement are the grounds. The Pasquotank River flows through it and an earlier owner created four small islands. These islands are adorned with fauna, iron statues and benches. Reading a book there sitting among this splendor is the best medicine for whatever ails you. The owner, Ms. Johnson is an art collector with wonderful taste. Fine art is ubiquitously displayed throughout the main building. The main building has four lovely rooms that rival any French chateau. I was most impressed with the Sun room with it's airy feel and view of the grounds, river and islands. I highly recommend a visit here. The only drawback is that Elizabeth City leaves a lot to be desired. But, visitors here are not far from North Carolina's outer banks or the Dismal Swamp. r

  Comfort, Art, Furniture Just Fantastic

  Late arrival at dusk delayed our appreciation of this wonderfully decorated house and it surrounding grounds. A quiet night's sleep aided with complimentary wine to forget the long day's drive and traffic on a holiday weekend. Early morning coffee, a walk around the grounds to enjoy this idyllic setting. Martha, our host, severed a delicious breakfast and told us of her adventures in decorating and maintaining such a wonderful house.

  Wonderful Stay!

  My husband and I stayed there a few weeks ago. Its one of the most beautiful places Ive ever been to! Southern charm at its finest, the rooms are clean, the owner is very pleasant and helpful. We had some rude guests next to us, and for the good of the whole, she asked them to leave. Thank you Martha! We felt right at home and your Belgian waffles for breakfast were to die for! The beds are super comfortable and the grounds were so unique and downright breathtaking. Right on the river for swimming (we brought our kayaks) and cute downtown area about a mile or so away. We loved it and will be back! Best place to stay in Elizabeth City 100%

  The Pond House Inn

  I can't say enough about this place! This Inn was amazing! We were in the family suite beause we brought our English Bulldog. We were coming to town for a family reunion and when our original plans fell through 3 days before our trip, we stumbled upon this wonderful place. By far the best place we've ever stayed and we will definitely stay there again. The owner, Martha, was hands on and went way above and beyond. If you are looking for an upscale yet very comfortable Inn with a beautiful location, look no further. You will NOT be disappointed!

  nice property but has issues

  we stayed there recently and are both sick from the mold. The owner tries so hard but it seems like she is alone and overwhelmed The bed was comfortable but there were wires everywhere and dust built up on the ceiling fan. our original stay was to be three nights but we canceled the first due to our flight coming in so late. arrived the next day around 1 pm and rang the bell several times. the door was locked and no one answered . we tried calling but it was busy or off the hook for a few hours. discouraged we left and visited the area while calling and calling. finally we got through and the owner said she was there and didnt hear us. ok... walked in the front door and were immediately hit with a musty old smell. No more B&B's for us we will stay in a hotel next time.
