    Last visit

Been here 2-3 times for the quiz night as its local to a friend but not in any hurry to return. Food has been very average on both occasions Ive eaten- seems to be quick turnaround, pre-cooked type food but not at a price that reflects this. Decided to just have halloumi fries (described as tapas) as a snack this time for £5.75 which was a small bowl of five supermarket freezer cabinet style fries with a couple of dips. Almost tasteless and obviously just heated by someone with little interest in food. Pub quiz is well attended and could be ok but is stretched out for way too long by a landlady who seems to love the sound of her own voice and is determined to keep the teams in the pub as late as possible to keep them drinking. Endless diversions onto what she clearly thinks are entertaining anecdotes and, for some reason, constant irritating background music at the same time. At times, it starts to feel like a 1980s social club to the point I wouldnt have been surprised if the landlord had announced a meat raffle. Clientele seems to be mainly 60+ retired types who maybe like something thats a step back in time with questions about Cliff Richard and Ken Dodd but Id prefer somewhere a bit more 21st century.

    Stayed on the 29th feb

Great inexpensive place for a night out in Bournemouth. We both really had a good nights sleep & a lovely bath in the morning. Breakfast was superb & couldnt fault it at all. We will stay again for sure. Thanks

    Couples break in March 2020

We visited during the week for 2 nights, found it to be a lovely city break for the two of us. Lovely and friendly staff. We had food the first night at the Inn and ordered a delicious pork and the hunters chicken both of which we enjoyed extremely. Monday night was a jazz night so the pub was lively. Would rate it a 4/5 for the friendly very accommodating staff and comfortable rooms.

Ignore the whingers - pub quiz is great as is the host as is the food

Whilst visiting my mother we decided to try the pub quiz that she regularly attends. We were shocked to read another review that criticised it as we struggle to find a really good pub quiz that has been well thought out, clearly thoroughly researched and professionally compered and we thought the compere did a cracking job. If the pub quiz does cater to a slightly older audience, not that we felt it did, being younger ourselves, it means they are considering their clients and providing them with an evening they will enjoy. We thought there was a great mix of age groups and everyone else appeared to be enjoying it as much as we did. And after all it is only a quiz and supposed to be a bit of fun. And as for the comments about the food!!! We also ate at the pub before the quiz and were really impressed by the quality, quantity and presentation. The service was great too. Really good value for money. So on behalf of my mum and ourselves - well done. Don't listen to the detractors and keep up with the excellent work. We'll be back.

    Inexpensive, friendly, clean, great location.

I stayed here for a quick weekend visit to nearby family. Very well situated just a short bus journey from the rail & bus station and right beside a bus stop. When I walked into reception I was delighted to be warmed by a lovely gas fire roaring in a beautiful hearth in lovely surroundings. The room was very comfortable, simply decorated and very clean. Good room facilities; refreshments - tea/coffee/hot chocolate/water and biscuits. Toiletries in bathroom and hairdryer in drawer. Adequate wardrobe and drawer storage for clothes. A little maintenance needs done in room 7, but that's the only fault and it didn't impact on my stay at all. The management and staff are just lovely. Very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great and very generous. I highly recommend having Sunday dinner there too. It was easily the best Sunday lunch I have paid for in a very long time! Parking is off road and free. I have now stayed in 4 different hotels in Bournemouth but will most definitely make this my go to hotel when I visit from now on.
