In need of TLCFrom the outside the hotel looks ok, obviously at one point has been a beautiful place, there are lots of original features, the staircase and leaded windows are amazing. However it has been neglected, the carpets are tired, paintwork in need of a refreshing and some attempts at DIY that have been unsuccessful, there is also a very stale odour that lingers everywhere. Our room was ok, bed and bed linen clean, but there was no heating till later on and the blinds were broken, also the seal on the shower door leaked so the bathroom floor flooded. The hotel did not offer breakfast either. Was ok for one night but would not rush back.

House of Horrors / Abysmal !!Doors smashed ! TV didnt work. Poor internet connection. The rooms/ toilets even the walls were filthy and rundown, nothing was clean. It felt like I was in a homeless shelter. Had to change the room I was given three times and I was so close to walking out, was literally forced to stay. I believe that a price of a hotel shouldnt have an effect on the cleanliness. The Old Vicarage is by far the worst hotel Ive ever stayed in . The whole building needs stripping off and it needs to be redecorated and deep cleaned! Extremely disappointed!

2 DAYS OF HELL AT THE OLD VICARAGEThis place is disgusting,my room had 2 sockets and 1 of them was in wardrobe. There was no curtains and the window was filthy. The bedroom was disgusting and hadn't had a good clean for ages. The shower room was diabolical, there was urine all over the tiles around the toilet and the mould was ridiculous. Please do not think of staying here as you will be very disappointed,i asked for a cleaner room and was told that i needed to leave.I am now in the The Travel lodge whats just down the road,it may be £5.00 dearer but its 100 times better than that dump.Forget about staying here if you have health problems, they have done nothing to combat covid 19 and there was no sign of hand sanitizer.

Makes the Overlook look like The Ritz.First Impressions: There was an old fashioned phone in the lobby that said 'Ring Me' but was disconnected like something out of the Stephen King novel Misery and a creepy bell in reception that sent shivers down my spine. A funny smell permeated the hallway that reminded me of my heady days as a student. The entrance looked like it had been kicked in by a serial killer on a rampage. There were gaps in the blind so pedestrians could look up and see you in your room. The photocopier in reception looked like a cloning device and probably was. The concierge was very friendly, probably too friendly and there was a sign above the lounge that said 'Strangers are friends you haven't met yet'. There was definitely something strange going on (babies crying when there were no other guests). I won't mention the chicken clucking... And it is built on a cemetery. Felt more like a murder mystery weekend than a three star hotel approved by the AA. Great for ghost hunting tours I imagine. Or if you are a fan of horror movies and like creepy old antiques. An unusual experience.

Worst hotel everIve booked this before we reading the reviews. This was my first mistake, the second was not walking out. From the outside this looks like a lovely hotel but once you get in it all changes. It is filthy. 1. Beds are really hard and uncomfortable and I didnt dare lift the sheet up to see what the mattress was like. 2. The shower in the bathroom was full of black mould the previous occupier had left their empty shower and shampoo bottles and they were not taken away. 3. Cobwebs everywhere looked like it hadnt been dusted in years. The smoke alarm had been covered up. 4. The walls were dirty the handles were falling off the doors this really is an awful hotel and I would advise nobody to go. There is so much more wrong with this but the list is endless.
