Mixed feelings on this stayOvernight stay with my husband after a business trip. Hotel itself is lovely, quirky, nice decor and clean. Rooms comfortable. All of the staff were absolutely excellent, friendly and attentive. However the bar, whilst it stocks an impressive range of spirts, beer and some very nice quality wine is, in my view, on the heavy end in terms of price (on a par with a London hotels). Our evening meal in the Orangery was overall pretty disappointing. We had to send back a very bland and overcooked risotto and the replacement Fritto Misto was equally sub standard (we suspected it wasnt freshly produced). This was a real shame as the dining room was a lovely setting, nice atmosphere and the Mediterranean theme menu seemed such a promise start. Breakfast however was a real contrast and was executed superbly! 3 point review as hotel room good value, staff were great but evening meal including drinks was £140 for two which has left us feeling a bit disappointed.

Very good foodwe came here for a Saturday night meal, the staff are very helpful under the circumstances of covid- we ordered 3 Tapas for starters the squid-prawns-garlic bread- which was very nice. For our mains i had the fish paella and the others had the steak with truffel skinny fries, all the food was very good and we would go back.

Memorable experience!!We definitely had a memorable experience, one that left me feeling bereft at the attitude of the owner and its staff. You will be happy to stay here if you do not plan to socialise or are happy to be on a curfew and be in bed by 11pm. After the extremely over priced stocked bar closed at 11pm we were ordered to go to our room. Im not a child!! Im a paying guest!!! The rooms were clean and tidy and had character. There are some health and safety issues that I shall be reporting. Obviously its an old building so your neighbours can be heard, I could tell what TV program my neighbours were watching. Guests walking in corridors in their underwear!! My sleep was interrupted, car alarms constantly going off, mice running outside of the kitchen spotted by another guest and I just couldnt wait to leave. Its such a shame, this place has the potential to be great. The owner was arrogant and didnt want to know, hes just stealing a living from good people!! I do not recommend this hotel at all. I for one will not return. Extremely disappointing!!

NoisyI booked through booking.com. I paid £119 to include breakfast and also booked a table for an evening meal. This was a surprise for my partners birthday. We stayed in room 1. There is no view as claimed. The breakfast was a small box of rice krispies, yogurt, pain au chicolat, orange and apple...not quite what we was expecting. Trying to get hold of someone before arrival is near impossible! Dinner was amazing as is the actual setting but the drinks are hugely overpriced. After dinner and drink we went to our room for the evening. We had just fell asleep when the red siren in our room started going off. It's so loud! I ran downstairs to see what's happening to be told by bar man he didnt know why it went off but everything is ok. Back to bed but pointless as you can hear EVERYTHING. The cocktail maker being shaken, laughing and talking. Then around 10.30ish loads of noise right outside our room. The door next to ours marked private I can only assume is some kind of storage as all sorts of banging and clanking can be heard. Then as the bar shuts down all the giggling and talking gets louder as people are either leaving or going to their rooms. Overall I find the advertising to be misleading and overpriced for what you get.
