  Amazing little pub/hotel brilliant little function room amazing staff and good drinks recommend this pub to book your functions and partys could it fault the place at all well worth a visit on a trip to Halifax opposite Halifax wool shops opposite the car park

  We have stayed at the Old Post Office quite a few times We are a small group of contractors and its ideal for that Its not the Ritz and for money you can't expect that. However we won't be staying again as they refused to issue us with a reciept of our stay So we book our digs sometimes based on money and we were charged 50 quid a room and with a reciept we can claim this back but as the clown who runs it can't complete a simple function we now can't claim it back Therefore it is no longer a cheap place for working guys to use Quite briliant don't you think. Perhaps Basil Fawtly did his training there

  Great choice

  I've stayed here a few times and this little gem has it querks and that's why I come back. The staff are very helpful and the only problem I encounter was a telly that didn't work which they happily replaced. It's a pub/ hotel so expect to hear people having a laugh. I've read other reviews and those people must if been here for a wedding or a wake or they hated the sound of laughter. It's inexpensive and it's warm and comfortable. (Their pints are the best I've had in Halifax) great people great beer. I pay for the experience.

  Friendly andaffordable

  I was here during November for a friends birthday. We hired out the back room for a party. The food that was provided was excellent and the bartenders kept checking everyone had full drinks and full stomachs. A very impressive evening indeed.

  A night without sleep

  As a cheap place to stay, i really was not expecting huge amounts but unfortunately the old post office failed to meet even the very basics. The mattress was so old and soft that I could feel the frame underneath, had a horrendous back in the morning, and failed to find any comfortable position. Secondly was the smell, in the room was a small sink, and the smell that was coming up from it was just nauseating, reminded me of festival toilets, It actually prevented me from sleeping entirely, the room was so small you couldnt escape it. I had the window wide open, freezing cold but still couldnt escape the smell. It was overpowering. In addition to this, there was no wardrobe or draws, no plugs to charge my phone ( aside from one with the kettle and tv plugged in which was pretty unreachable without moving furniture and pulling stuff out). The walls were also paper thin, I could hear absolutely everything from the rooms next door. The sheets and towels were clean, as was the room, and the staff were friendly, but some work is needed and money needing spent to get the basics up to scratch.
