Good valueWe booked into this hotel as we couldn't stay with my parents due to covid measures. We had a 2 night stay with 3 rooms. The staff were very accommodating. The rooms are pleasant and clean if a little tired. The wifi was a bit flaky in places. No food was available but this wasnt a problem. There is a small supermarket just around the corner. The gardens look beautiful and would have sat outside had the weather been warm enough. On the whole good value for money.

Not the hotel it used to be. Cold, unwelcoming and website misleadingWriting to complain about my stay on the 21 October 2020. I have been a regular customer at the Normanhurst dining and recommending the hotel for stays to family and friends. This includes celebration birthdays and funeral receptions. On your website it states that although dinner is no longer provided that you provide a hearty full English breakfast. You also state that your bar is open until midnight. On arrival at 21.45pm I was greeted by a notice to say that breakfast was no longer provided and the bar was shut. I had spent the day working and arrived in Manchester at 21.05pm. I travelled past the Belmore where all the lights were on and obviously the bar was open I expressed my disappointment about the lack of breakfast and that the bar was closed. I explained that if I have known this I would not have booked the hotel and the website was misleading. I also advised that when I made my booking I asked for confirmation if breakfast was served. I received no response on line so assumed it was. But the manager at reception simply said they had received no email from myself. When I went to checkout another guest was also waiting to check out and told me that no one is usually on at reception until 10.00am. I had to leave sharpish and wanted to hand in my card as I was advised on check in it was important to do so as it contained security details (passwords for rooms) and if I did not hand it in I would be fined £10. I will not be staying at the Normanhurst again and neither will I be recommending it anymore to friends and family. You have lost a great many customers because of this. It is cold and lacks the personal touch and friendliness it used to have in abundance.

Did not enjoy couldn't wait to get homeI arrived at the hotel for my 3 night stay, the welcoming was not what I expected I just got whats your name and told how much I needed to pay. I was handed my key I looked at him like to say where am I going he then said have you been here before I said no first time, I was shown to my room which was in the other building. I got into my room and it smelt really bad of cigarette smoke I asked if someone had been smoking in here I was asked if I wanted to change room and I said yes please. Went back to reception and given a new room as going to it felt a bit uncomfortable as he was huffing and puffing. Got into second room looked lovely and good size, the little electric heater was turned on, the room had a big radiator and it didnt work unfortunately it was late that I noticed the electric heater wasnt working the room was absolutely freezing. I left a note on reception asking for a new heater as no one was on the desk till 10am and I would be in my room all day having a training meeting. They brought a new heater which just took the cold off and I appreciated but the main radiator never came on at all. The shower pressure was awful it was like washing in a small fountain took me 20minutes. The bed was a bit hard definitely need a new mattress, banging around til 2.30am the first night then the following night till midnight. There also some stairs that take you to the other building from the main building be careful coming off the stairs as there is a hole in floor and worried me. The building needs a bit of money throwing at it, holes in wall, wallpaper ripped and carpets stained. Such a shame as main reception was lovely looking the rest let it down. I couldnt wait to get home and get warm and a good shower.

Avoid at all costs! Filthy and neglected.I would never normally leave a bad review but this hotel was absolutely shockingly filthy. I booked 3 staff into 'superior rooms' for a business trip over 3 nights. They checked in late evening after a 5 hour drive and found their rooms to be nothing like the photos. The rooms were in a sorry state (please see photos) with peeling wallpaper, damp patches on the ceiling and broken fixtures. There was very little to show that the room had been cleaned at all, it had certainly not been hoovered and the baths were covered in mould and dirt. One thing that was appealing were the microwaves and fridges in the room. Unfortunately at least one didn't work and the fridge in one room filled the space with the stench of sour milk which mixed with the stink of cannabis from the corridor. It was not just one room that was like this, all 3 rooms were just as horrific. As they had arrived late and were expected on site at 7:30am the next morning, they felt that they had no option but to say the night. They contacted me and I arranged alternative accommodation for the remaining nights. Unfortunately, as reception doesn't open until 10am, they were forced to leave without being able to raise their issues. I have since contacted the hotel both directly and via Hotels.com for a refund but they are extremely rude and argumentative and refuse to refund any money. They offered 2 nights free but we'd never return! Please do not waste your money on this hotel, it is shameful. AVOID!!
