  Not the best experiance

  Unfortunately we seem to have arrived when the staff were having a bad day, particularly the chef. We had a tabled booked for 7:30 and arrived early but was shown to the table and drinks order taken... this is where we experienced delays... Nearly 20 mins later we were served our drinks and the food order taken. We were not hopeful for a speedy service...15 mins later, we overheard one of the bar staff obviously phoning the manager escalating the issues the chef was experiencing and well no customers should really have heard this. After 40 mins we got our starters and after a further 20 minute wait our mains.. I could have understood if the place was busy, but there were only 2 tables inside occupied!

  Saturday Lunch

  We had a lovely lunch here, service was fantastic and staff were so friendly. The smoked mackerel pate was lovely. Scampi and Chips was really nice and so was the Steak and Kidney pudding with mash. We will be coming back here that's for sure.

  Could be more hospitable

  The food was ok..looked nicer on the website.Had to wait some time for our drinks. What I felt was lacking was a more welcoming manner from staff - they seemed slightly stand offish. Left there feeling like a real outsider. Dont think Ill be returning to Winchelsea.

  A good pub meal.

  We had hearty pub meals and a nice glass of cider to wash it down. The covid precautions were good. I don't want to damn the New Inn with faint praise, it did exactly what I would expect of a decent pub.

  Food not great

  Lovely little village pub. We stopped for lunch. Food wasn't very nice. Dry chicken and overcooked chips....very disappointed. Nice pub to stop just for a drink...don't bother with the food... Toilet could have been cleaner too
