  Taking pride in being old-fashioned in a bygone era

  This is a traditional hotel in many senses of the term. From the decor to the facilities and layout, it harks back to what could have been more glorious days. But in this day and age, why would there be no free bottled water in the room? Why is there no gym and spa? Why is Wi-Fi restricted only to the room? Time to get with the programme. The truly only plus point of this hotel is that it is next to the JR station.

  Helpful staff and convenient for JR station

  I booked this hotel for one night because it was very close to the station. I was passing through Kumamoto a couple of days before my stay and the staff were able to look after my bag and even took it to the room on the day I arrived. The room was clean and comfortable with a view over the station tracks. If you need accommodation very close to the station I'd recommend this. It is also right on the tram route. Plenty of places to eat in the station. I didn't eat in the hotel so I can't comment on food choice. All the staff were very helpful and polite.

  A modern hotel close to the station

  This a nice modern hotel within a 4 minute walk from the rail station. It is also close to the bus stop for Mount Aso. The staff were excellent - I arrived in a rain storm and immediately I went to check in a towel was produced so that I could dry myself and my luggage. My single room was a bit cramped but comfortable, but with no drawers for storage (I don't understand this trend). Air handling was silent. There are several restaurants on site and I enjoyed a meal at the Japanese one. I recommend this hotel.

  Luxury on a budget

  Definitely the most luxurious hotel we stayed at and so nice to have a concierge to help us find parking and take our bags and provide umbrellas when it was raining. Very close to Kumamoto JR station where you can find plenty of places to eat, or choose the (more expensive) hotel options - not sure what other reviewers had problems with. Breakfast OK. Nearby road works/construction were not a problem at all.

  Best Location

  I choose this hotel cause it's location, just next to Kumamoto Station. The station have shops and restaurants. Easy to get other main transportation to Aso Volcano and Kumamoto city. Hotel style is traditional, room was large, I think around 250 feets, so easy for us to open our luggages. Our room was face to Kumamoto Station, night scenery was beautiful and peaceful.
