  Fantastic hotel and service

  This weekend we stayed at the new bath hotel and spa for our mini honeymoon. On arrival we was pleasantly greeted on reception by Kirsty, she gave us all information on the hotel and what was available within our stay. Our suite was beautiful, and very large. We enjoyed a couples massage, both ladies who did our massages were very lovely and made us feel relaxed and comfortable. We also had a fantastic 3 course meal in the restaurant, as we sat at our table we found a very sweet note congratulating us on our wedding and were given a bottle of champagne. This really made our evening! Nothing was to much for anyone there, all staff were very attentive and friendly. I hope to attend this hotel again soon, if not we will definitely be returning for our anniversary, thank you

  Great location

  The hotel was easy to find, 5 minute walk from Matlock bath and a 5 minute drive from Matlock town centre. The room was nice and bathroom very nice and modern. The bedding did smell a little on arrival however it was changed immediately, once we had asked at reception. Service was a little slow seemingly due to lack of staff but all very polite and friendly.

  Not suitable for wheelchair users

  Before booking I explained that my wife uses a wheelchair and cannot manage stairs. I was offered a room in the annex and told that this was connected to the main part of the hotel. It is, but only by using, I think 3, flights of stairs! If the weather is inclement then one has to drive round the 100 yards plus to the front of the hotel. The staff were friendly, but we were not impressed to find, when Covid cleaning requirements are in place, that there was a previous guest's shirt hanging in the wardrobe. There was only pre-ordered cold food available at breakfast. I know that the pandemic has made things difficult for hotelliers but we were disappointed and came home early.

  The pool is the highlight

  The hotel itself is very dated and a bit grubby in places; it really would benefit from some refurbishment. The staff were friendly enough and I was there just before lockdown 2.0 so they were probably getting prepared to shut everything down. The outdoor pool was the definite highlight for me. The location is also great.

  Open air swimming on New Years Day

  Great way to start 2021, Booked on line and open as it is outdoors swimming pool, Best description was bracing, pool is warmed with thermal spring water very natural and felt wonderful once you got over the shock. Well worth it, quite busy but felt very safe. Note you get changed by the pool, no Changing rooms or showers.
