  Lets be honest re food menu

  Yes the bedrooms are nice. The food menu is quirky unsuitable for typically English people. Cheese toasty with blue cheese carrot and marmalade sauce. Quite horrible. I was not charged for this Im happy to say. Fish finger sandwich wasnt cod cheapest type. Fish and chips frozen fish where I would expect fresh at £13 the entire menu did not appeal to any of our eight friends who came with us. mixed ages from 30 to 70 How can this hotel boast their food. Lots of modern breads and uninteresting tapas. Really this hotel needs to re look at the cleanliness too. This picture shows eight flies on my sandwich. The furnishings in the stable area are filthy and need a good wash. Sadly the Mytton and mermaid is not what is used to be.

  Amazing wedding day

  We had the most amazing wedding day here on 15th October at this fantastic venue. From start to finish everything was perfect even when we had to adapt numbers due to new covid restrictions. The staff were so adaptable and supportive throughout. First class customer service and food, which everyone commented positively on. Special thanks to Sam who ran the whole day superbly well, and he started at 6.30am and was there until.8.30pm! To all the staff, chefs and all who contributed, we cannot praise you highly enough. It was 'The Perfect Day'.

  Very average for mid-week supper.

  Covid friendly which is, of course, appreciated and food perfectly edible but just lacking the finishing touches to make it memorable and special to trigger a return visit. The real downer was being plagued by flies indoors on an October evening! Odd and unpleasant.

  Afternoon tea

  Just been for afternoon tea. Wont be going again really poor experience. Plonked down on a table in the bar area no special area for afternoon teas was very busy did not feel safe and quickly ate the small selection of average finger sandwiches and cakes and was out in 20 minutes. Wouldnt recommend.

  Certainly would not reccomend a walk in breakfast. Coffee for 2 that was filtered yet served as caffitere but only had 2 small cups, 2 bacon sandwhich with less than 2 small pieces of bacon on each....bill = £17. To be honest a complete rip off.
