Hospitality: Best Ever!I recently attended a Birth-a-Book retreat for writers, held at the Mulburn Inn, in Bethlehem, New Hampshire. I arrived a few days early, so my stay was ten days (7/1-7/10 2020). Now, I was raised with the dictum, "Have no expectations, and you will never be disappointed." Well, if I had entertained expectations, my experience at the Mulburn would have soared right past them. Though this Grand Old Dame is a centenarian, owner and keeper, Mary, maintains a clean gleam in every nook and on every banister. The warm decor is perfect--eclectic and interesting. Beautiful grounds offer stretches of soft grass and dappled shade beneath lovely old trees. Mary, herself, exudes the best qualities of a quintessential innkeeper, and then some. Friendly and out-going, helpful and informative, Mary is the epitome of positivity and good cheer, and she put this guest instantly at ease and feeling genuinely welcomed. The food was excellent, prepared in a spotless kitchen and uniquely presented in this Age of Covid-19, while PPE was required when guests moved through public spaces. Social distancing was observed. A lovely short walk from the Mulburn, the quaint village of Bethlehem offers several excellent dining choices, a superb yoga studio, and fun shops. Hiking trails and Mt. Washington, with its myriad winter wonderland activities, are a mere-moments drive. While most review opportunities offer a 5-Star option, I'd give the Mulburn Inn and Mary the whole star field. Amazing Fall WeekendI can't say enough about the Mulberry Inn and its gracious hostess, Mary. The Inn is spotless and so well loved, and Mary was especially attentive to safety during these Covid times. She spaced out the breakfast times between guests, and there is so much room in the inn- between sitting areas and porches- that we could relax and enjoy our stay in every sense. Breakfast was delicious both mornings, and Mary is a gem to chat with. The feeling of the Inn is absolutely warm and welcoming, and our weekend away could not have been nicer. I do hope to be able to return again! Thank you , Mary!

Amazing Inn! Absolutely loved my stay!I cant say enough about how amazing my stay was with Mary at her exquisite, historic home! If youre ever in this area, stay here! And do yourself a favor, plan ahead and book in advance bc she fills up quick, especially in leaf-peeping season! And for all you history fanatics - get the Madison room that Thomas Edison spent time in! Theres also an original stove he gave to the family - its in incredible condition too! I initially tried to stay here back in March with my reservation all secure, and then Covid hit and all was lost! But thankfully, Mary is a most gracious and kind host and had no issues with me having to cancel! Shes flexible, reasonable, accommodating - but most of all, shes absolutely delightful to be around! She loves her home and loves to share it with people and it shows! I stayed in the glorious Madison Room primarily because Thomas Edison stayed there before! So that in and of itself was a huge draw for me - but the room was magnificent! It holds a comfy, massive four poster bed that once belonged to the Kennedy estate and requires a small 2-step stool to get into haha! Its also a turreted room so you have a semicircular view of the vibrant fall foliage all around! Not to mention the whimsical artwork and decadent Victorian furnishings! I loved everything about it! And then theres Marys flawless cooking! I mean, wow! Quiche, salad, potatoes one morning and eggs in puff pastry with asparagus and hollandaise sauce the next - all expertly plated and delicious to boot! Her dining room is surrounded by windows to showcase the gorgeous grounds (especially in full fall glory)! Theres also a common fridge, microwave, Keurig and kettle for any coffee/tea/culinary needs you may have. Oh and did I forget to mention the spacious, cozy front porch covered in rocking chairs with perfect views? I couldnt tear myself away from it! Cant wait to come back and stay again! This will be my go-to spot in northern New Hampshire without a doubt!

What a country inn should beStrong architectural bones. Interesting history. Multiple comfy corners. Fireplaces, candles and blankets galore. Generous breakfast. Attentive, without hovering, host. Accessible yet private location. ...All of the qualities I would look for in a country inn, I found at the Mulburn. I came to find solitude for a writing project, and in between ventured out to explore Bethlehem and neighboring Littleton as well as the tremendous hiking opportunities in the White Mountains. What a complete experience! Special thanks to owner and innkeeper Mary Moritz for our many lovely chats over breakfast. _/*\_
