  Definitely not a 3 star hotel

  I recently stayed for 3 nights bed breakfast and evening meal at this hotel, it has a 3 star designation but there is nothing 3 star about it it is 5 star all the way. Where do I start, the couple that run the hotel are young but very personable and professional providing excellent leadership to their young team. The room was immaculate and spotless, great thought had gone into the detail and decoration of the room and there was not a spec of dust or mark anywhere. The dining room was well laid out to accommodate current restrictions and staggered dining times assisted further. The food on offer was from a limited menu but every dish was presented well and the quality was superb and add to that that the menu was different every night made each meal an enjoyable experience. The service provided by the staff was exceptional with nothing being a problem any minor issue was addressed and solved immediately. The location was ideal with only a few minutes walk to the town and about 7-8 minutes to the sea front, the surrounding area was quiet and just across the road is The Byes Riverside Park an area of green space about 2km long. So what are the drawbacks, the only issue I can see is that it is a grade 2 listed building so no lift so I can see there being an issue for people with limited mobility although there are ground floor rooms but I think you will have to book early to secure one of them. Overall this was a very enjoyable few days and one that I hope to repeat

  Lovely stay at this amazing hotel

  We stayed for 4 nights for our joint birthday celebrations and the start the owners were lovely. They are passionate about their hotel and looking after their guests. Even with the COVID restrictions they had adapted eating in the restaurant at night and for breakfast brilliantly. The staff were all lovely and friendly. The chef is excellent and one to hold on too as I am gluten free and he was very adaptable with his menu and I would recommend the food wholeheartedly. We stayed in room 8 and then room 9 for our final night and both rooms very very clean and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable and the facilities were excellent. The hotel has a lovely charm about it bringing old with the new and i would definitely stay again. Parking was not a problem and the hotel was about a 10 min walk to the beach front and the town was lovely. The hotel is a great base to visit Seaton, Beer and Exmouth. Thank you to Owners for such a lovely stay and we looking forward to seeing you again. I would recommend this hotel to anyone you wont be disappointed.

  3 night short break

  Booked hotel just a week before our visit. Stayed in Room 17 and another one (cant remember the number) Covid precautions are taken seriously without being over played. Fantastic comfy beds in both rooms. Great bathrooms, lovely decor and pleasant gardens and surroundings. Owners, breakfast waiting staff and housekeeping staff all chatty, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was served fresh and on very hot plates. Lounge and bar service available all day. On site free car parking. Cannot fault this hotel!

  Superb Hotel

  What makes this hotel special: The food and staff. Superb food prepared by excellent chef. The young restaurant staff we had the pleasure of meeting, Sophie,Harvey,Cameron,Enya were all friendly, attentive, polite and very professional in their work. Not to forget Becky in housekeeping. All of which are a great asset to the hotel and owners Bev & Jonty A great stay, highly recommended and look forward to returning soon.

  A super homely and friendly hotel run by Jonty and Bev.

  If you are looking for an ideally situated, homely, friendly, nicely decorated hotel with marvellous food and a very friendly and helpful hosts then you will do no better than The Mount Pleasant Hotel. It is situated just 6-7 mins from the beach, 5 mins from the shopping centre and has a lovely park (which straddles the River Sid ) just across the road. With free car parking and just 17 bedrooms it is like home from home. There is a very comfortable lounge and for the summer a very nice outdoor seating area. The rooms are beautifully decorated with all the usual amenities as well as being very comfortable. The staff are so very pleasant and helpful and the food and the different choices are superb - the chef has been with the hotel for over 25 years and the meals are all freshly cooked, very well presented and the taste is mouthwatering. My wife and I have stayed 4 times in the last 2 years and will be returning in 2021 for definite. The owners Jonty and Bev cant do enough for their guests and create a very friendly and homely feel to the hotel.
