  Mini break

  Lovely stay in a 300 year old building, ok so the rooms are a little dated and creaky floor boards but everything else was excellent. We were dubious of our bed when we first sat on it, it felt hard but we both had 3 great nights sleep. The food was also great and plentiful!! In these most trying of times all the staff were lovely throughout whilst ensuring all Covid policies adhered to. Special mention to Fiona and Jill who ensured our stay was as good as possible. Would not hesitate to return.

  SHORT BREAK

  Great deal of 5 days for the price of 3. Room was very comfortable. The Staff were exceptionally caring, attentive and couldnt be more helpful. So good going back in 2 wks. Would highly recommend this lovely hotel. Pitlochry is an excellent base to discover the beauty of highland Scotland especially in Autumn seeing the glorious colours.

  Revisited a Hotel that hasnt moved out of the 1980s

  I should caveat this review with the Covid restrictions in mind. Not easy to offer the best service. With a heavy heart i say The Moulin Hotel is not good enough. I can only imagine what Gordon Ramsay would say. I want Pitlochry to be the best holiday destination in Scotland. Its also the heart of Scotlands abundant food larder. But the hotels in Pitlochry other than the Fonab are in my experience all utterly living in the past. This hotel couldnt be in a better setting in the Heart of Scotland . Why then do I rate it poorly. It starts quality of reception, moves into quality of bedroom accomodation and finishes with quality of food. Even for a three star hotel none of these are good enough. To be fair the managers and staff are trying their best but this could be so much better. Take the Welcome at reception seriously . Refurbish all the bedroom accomodation, ditch the squeaky beds and sort the acoustic separation, squeaky floors with a complete modernisation. Ditch the tartan and flock wallpaper and prepare freshly cooked Scottish food as they do at so many better hotels. Visit Gleneagles or the Fonab for an example of a great breakfast. Visit the Old Mill for great food. Sorry. Please aim higher and better.

  Lilac Cottage.

  We took advantage of a 5nights for the price of 3 offer in September which was alright, but must point out a few issues. Firstly the photos on the hotel website are out of date. The claim that the cottage has been re furnished to a high standard is misleading as the recliner couch in the lounge was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever sat on, and if I' m not mistaken was originally in McPhersons cottage a few years ago. Both lights in the kitchen did not work and had to be replaced, the Freesat box has an intermittent fault with the sound and the downstairs toilet would not flush so it was brought to their notice to which I was told It' s a slow filler. The windows were dirty outside and in with spiderwebs in their corners and these days when cleanliness is a big issue it was very off-putting. When we checked out no one asked for any feedback or if we enjoyed our stay . Oh, and there was no pizza wheel in the kitchen.
