Very comfortable, warm and friendly staff, good breakfastI really liked this inn. I stayed two nights in two different rooms - both were clean and comfortable. It had a happy and friendly vibe. It's not at all stuffy or pretentious. I'd stay here again if I was in the area.

Most EnjoyableThe Monadnock area has several choices for you to stay when youre on tour of this most understated quiet corner of New England. Most enjoyable and remarkable about this historic inn is its comfort. Comfort with the personnel, thanks Christina, the atmosphere, the easy flow of just walking through the property. Our second stay here and Im sure its not the last! Get out there and explore!! Live, Laugh, Love. Ernie B

DisappointingWe decided to try a different restaurant for Valentines Day that we hadn't been to. The Monadnock Inn sounded like a neat country Inn with a nice restaurant. Turns out the restaurant side of the business needs help. At the end of a very long meal we were told they were training two new chiefs. They need more training. The food was OK but not great. The service seemed to be in disarray and not organized at all. Had to ask for water refill which took another ten minutes to do. Prices were reasonable except for two deserts that were over $15 each. This is not a restaurant we will be back to unless we hear that the problems have been corrected or it is under new management. As the title says, Very Disappointing especially on a special day. Other customers were thinking the same thing.

Know what you're looking forWhen I was browsing for New England BnBs within weekend distance of Boston, I had a LOT to choose from. So I highlighted the items most important to me: 1) A fancy hot breakfast included with the room price, 2) Comfy-looking rooms with professional-looking decor and decent bedding, 3) An en-suite bath, 4) Reasonably affordable, and 5) Accepting visitors from Massachusetts during Covid. Monadnock Inn fit the bill on all counts, and I was very excited to find it. So many other places weren't serving breakfast, or sounded good on paper but were poorly furnished, or were stupid expensive. Monadnock Inn was a good balance of all my priorities for the trip. The inn could certainly use some maintenance, and some art and fixtures could be updated. Our ensuite bathroom was sufficient but not luxurious. Or even nicely appointed. But you know what WAS luxurious and nicely appointed? The GIANT FOUR-POSTER BED that was waist-height and covered with poofy bedding! The room was extremely cozy and comfortable. And what quick glimpses I saw of the neighboring rooms (their doors were open as we walked by), the other rooms looked perfectly lovely as well. And the food and service were great! We had appetizers, entrees, and desserts, and everything was delectable. Brunch was delicious, too. I've had better french toast, but the breakfast sausage was amazing. I wonder if it's sourced locally. The inkeeper (Dave, I think?) was relatively new, I think, and he was a down-to-earth, jovial fellow who obviously took pride in connecting with guests and making a nice experience. So know what you're looking for. If you're looking for a modern, spotless place with shining brass and white-gloved staff, this is not for you. If you're looking for a down-to-earth, charming, old-fashioned, and comfortable country inn, with delicious food and pretty rooms and friendly staff, then this place is pretty special.

Filled with pandemic-denying Christians who wont wear masks. STAY AWAY!!!I stayed here for one night based on mostly good (pre-pandemic) reviews. HOWEVER: When I checked in, the guy at the counter was not wearing a mask but he was behind a desk (I still thought that was just a little off). I later realized the Monadnock Inn was NOT requiring guests to wear masks. Later, the downstairs was crawling with people in close quarters, NONE of whom were wearing masks, walking around like they owned the place as if there was no pandemic! The only ones wearing masks were myself and one staff member because she was waiting tables in the restaurant! I then saw the same guy (is he the owner??) from check in, chatting with these people, also without a mask! I left the room quickly but as I left, it was clear from the conversations that the mask-free people were a large Christian group from the Midwest. Later I read their is a week-long gathering of HUNDREDS of these Christians across the country in New Ipswich, NH (a town near the Monadnock Inn). These people have already said they will NOT wear masks AND they plan to go door to door in nearby towns to evangelize people! Dont take my word for it, google this: N.H. town braces for large religious gathering amid coronavirus, warns Massachusetts communities about group and see for yourself! This is INSANE!! If pandemic-denying (pandemic-spreading??) Trump-like Christians is the kind of clientele the Monadnock Inn wants? Then everyone else with at least half a brain should STAY AWAY!!!
