    Needs an update

This is nice and quiet B&B but it needs a serious update and hopefully they do it sooner rather than later. This place has so much potential its such a shame. Upon arrival we were given a room that wasnt what we booked. The beds creaked more than a haunted house, the fridge was mouldy, the shower/bathroom was mouldy, as was the shower curtain, not to mention the shower cubicles are so so tiny making it hard to shower. The pool also needs a fix and a clean, the drains around the pool were broken and caked in mould. Again its such a shame because this place has so much potential if it tried. So next time we come to santorini we will be biting the bullet and pay the extra to stay elsewhere, this place is perfect if you are wanted a santorini holiday on a budget.

    Sufficient

Nice pool, adequate breakfast and cute kitties! Nice to have a bar by the pool also. Downside is that the doors are rather loud and echo when opening and closing. This was perfect for us as we were mostly out and about during the day. Hot water for showering is best available in late afternoon/early evening.

Decent for the price we paid

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here for the end of season for a week. The hotel is situated about 15 minutes walk from the beach. The pool was very clean and towels provided. Bus stop only a short walk. The young lad on reception was friendly and provided local information which was nice. Unfortunately we were given a twin room and told to push the beds together which wasnt a huge issue for me but should maybe be informed prior. The bathroom was small but perfectly usable. Shower cubicle tiny so water would flood the bathroom. Room was cleaned every day and fresh towels provided. We had a nice balcony that overlooked the garden and sea in the distance. There is a half built skeleton building which seems common in Greece which ruins the view somewhat. Breakfast is pretty poor consisting of bread, scrambled egg, cheap ham and cheese, cereals and fruit. Had to go early to get any baked beans... infact only one of the days we there beans were even avaliable! FLIES made laying by the pool unbarable and eating breakfast was a chore having to constantly swat them away. So we tended to go to the beach where this wasn't an issue. Not sure if this is caused by the resident cats which were abundant or from the kitchen area but it needs to be addressed as this wasnt an issue anywhere else we ate. Staff were all very friendly and I'd stay here again considering the price was low enough. I'd probably go a bit earlier in the year as Kamari is a bit of a ghost town in the last week of October. I'd also recommend getting a moped for a few days to explore the island, otherwise buses are fairly reasonable.

    Cheap and cheerful

The hotel is very basic and needs a lot of work but the hotel staff were very friendly to us and helpful but we did witness a row with a group of people who they said did not have a booking and the manager was pestering the people every day for money even though they had paid and threatened to call the police if the group did not pay!!! The hotel is very close to lots of restaurants and bars and are within walking distance.

To George and Manuel at Alia Hotel.

This review is four years late, as my wife and I travelled to Santorini in 2016 and stayed at the Alia Hotel, during our time, George was an absolute delight and treated us so well, even to this day my wife Peri talks about how great his Mojitos were. Manuel started during our stay and was a wonderful conversationalist, speaking about how much he cared for people - I hope they are both keeping well. It was during this trip that I proposed to my wife, outside the church on our way back to the Alia, and so this island and it's friendly inhabitants have played a huge part in our lives. The Alia Hotel was a great stay, a quiet, beautiful hotel in a scenic location. The staff were fantastic, understanding and patient and when we eventually return to Santorini, we will stay here for sure. Much love to you all and Thank you again for your wonderful hospitality.
