Marist Old Scholars Reunion FIRST choice! The Menai is the perfect spot for our yearly reunions, and the staff is friendly and obliging. There is plenty of room at The Menai, we can spread out, relax and enjoy our evening with fellow students, some we have not seen for over 50 years!! Meal selection is great, drinks reasonable and the time just flew...we laughed and reminisced the night away with another night to remember at THE MENAI... And found out AC/DC played there back in the seventies, what a night that would have been!!! I am looking forward to our big 60th next year....Barry Saltmarsh

Terrible Dont Bother!Dont waste your money, this is the worst accommodation weve ever stayed at! It started with a Fawlty Towers moment following a sign to Reception but when we arrived another sign saying Reception upstairs, so upstairs we go only to find a sign saying Reception downstairs?? A man came through a fire exit & asked could he help? After check in we were shown to the room which was small, old & tired. The bathroom is ridiculously small, so small in fact that when you sit on the loo you can reach the toilet paper on the opposite wall! There was a few dodgy characters hanging around the motel & then you have the freight trains to contend with with horns blowing until late at night & starting before 6am next morning & we also had to turn the old fridge off as the motor was extremely loud. We could go on but basically if we hadnt booked on booking.com last minute which was non refundable we would never had stayed but never again!

Over pricedRecently stayed at this place and, judging by the pics and the $110 a night, assumed it would be pretty good... boy was I wrong. The licensed restaurant and Bar/lounge were closed for the Christmas/New year period, as was reception!! Check-in was noted as 2pm, however when we got there and found a phone number to call, the caretaker informed us that he was out to lunch and wouldnt be back til 4. 2hrs later we finally got our rooms, only to find them tiny, run down & tired, with a bathroom the size of a closet, and a small bar fridge from the 70s that wasnt even turned on. We quickly dumped our stuff and went out for the evening. When arriving back that night we struggled to sleep due to the train that seemed to be outside our window, and the yelling & arguing from the room down the hall. Thank god we were only there 1 night!!

Outdated and should be demolishedOld, overpriced, cold, musky. They put making money above anything else. The music is so loud of a weekend good luck sleeping. Its sad to see because someone with half a brain could make it half of what it has to be and theyd be laughing. Clearly management are out of touch and behind the times.

Don't waste your money!!We recently stayed at the Menai. It was last minute, and we didn't have much choice of accommodation due to a family emergency. We arrived at 1.45, check in was 2.00. the sign said Reception upstairs, but the doors were all locked, we tried the door to the bar, locked as well....this was over the Christmas holiday. I rang the number on the door, said to the manager we were there to check in, only to be told he'd gone out for lunch and to come back at 4.00. When we did eventually check in I was shown where breakfast was and told help yourself the milk is in the fridge and the cereal is in the cupboard...for $5.00 per head. The room was small and smelt musky, the fridge hadn't been turned on. The bathroom was sooo small. That night all we heard were trains, and were woken very early by trains. Couldn't shower because it took over 5 mins for the hot water to become just luke warm. I'm not quite sure if there were bullet holes in the bedhead or just really big holes where screws had been. If you feel like staying in the Bate's Hotel from Physco then this is the place to go. It is definately not worth $110 per night.
