  Loved our stay in beautiful old hotel

  We were a group of 9 who stayed over Labour weekend. We had a mixture of rooms. Some upstairs off balcony and some in garden suites. The rooms upstairs are beautifully decorated. Have a fan as can get hot at night. Tips for rooms. If you want a lovely outlook from the balcony ask for a room facing the square. However if you are there on a party night and struggle to sleep with noise then choose elsewhere as these rooms face the late night bar Cool Change across the road which is open until 1am. The garden suites are not all like the photos show. We had thought they would all have an outdoor area but they do not. However there is a nice grassed area.

  Charming old world hospitality

  Lovely renovated old hotel, good restaurant on site. Very convenient to explore the Martinborough region. Lack of lift to transport luggage will be an issue for more disabled visitors. Very central to curiosities of this historical village as well as the well acclaimed wine region.

  Historic Hotel with a special character.

  This character filled old hotel reflects a bygone era of South Wairarapa. It has a unique atmosphere. The staff are welcoming and efficient. Garden rooms are bigger and quieter. Highly recommended for a special night away.

  Fantastic stay

  We had a great stay at the Martinborough hotel which is full of old world charm and beautiful restored. Stayed in the Martin Suite and loved the decor, soft beds and furnishings, the little wet-bar is a nice touch and a great extra with good selection of tea/coffee and drinks in the fridge. Bathrooms are well appointed and decorated in Victorian style with an iron cast bathtub. We ate at the restaurant/bar and was a great experience also would recommend. Martinborough is a fantastic place for a wine and food getaway and the Martinborough Hotel is located right at the heart of the village with its shops and cafes on the door step and most vineyards a quick bicycle ride away. We will be back.

  A lovely romantic night

  We stayed here on the way back from the wings over wire wrapper airshow and were not disappointed. Our room was immaculate and beautifully decorated in floral print curtains. The bed was one of the most comfortable Ive slept in and the compact bathroom had everything you need in a stylish black and white colour scheme. Even the array of tea and coffee provided was imaginative and we had little biscuits as a welcome gift. When we checked in they advised us to book for dinner which was good and we had a very nice meal in the downstairs restaurant. After dinner we went into the courtyard garden and played a game of petanque which was hilarious Each room is named after a local historic resident and ours was Pharazyn. There was a balcony with comfortable chairs where we enjoyed our breakfast coffee before leaving. Overall the hotel is beautiful but visually it was marred by the staircase up to the bedrooms where the carpet was seriously worn and looks very scruffy compared with all of the rest of the furniture. I am surprised they had not noticed this and replaced it already
