  Our favorite getaway

  We have stayed here 2 1/2 years ago and really enjoyed our stay. We decided to stay again through A Mother's Rest nonprofit ministry. We stayed in The Colonel room and it was lovely. The breakfast and hospitality that David provided was top notch! The staff was lovely We will be back! I truly loved our time there. I could live there.

  David is a lovely host

  I called from their front porch, asking if they had any room @ the inn? Just opening, I was a solo Wednesday night lodger, but I felt as though I was very welcome & a non intrusion. It was the eve of Innkeeper Davids 60th Birthday!! ! We celebrated w/a brownie. Hes an ex teacher, artist & author...so..quite interesting and FUN. As we sipped a beer on the front porch, we also rocked away the worlds problems. I threw a ball to the two resident pooches as an aloof cat gazed w/disinterest. Its like visiting old friends or grandmas house. Old, yet charming. David shared his EASY hollandaise recipe as I gobbled eggs & homemade cornbread -we ARE south of the Mason Dixon! I lodged in the blue & yellow Monet Room w/a lovely & VERY clean bath. They kept the dogs downstairs; although, I love pets, so a visit from the beasts is fine. Its off the beaten path as Nellysford consists of a strip mall w/a Mex restaurant, deli/pizza/ice cream/ free book establishment & a general store. Well off the road, so peace & quiet abounds. In fact, we had breakfast on the back patio overlooking a lovely meadow & flowers. Go..relax.. chill. Interact w/these lovely hosts. Or not. Either way, its a respite from the crazy world we have experienced.

  Great place

  We got into a situation where are VRBO was double booked and the inn went over and beyond to offer us a room with our poodle. The employees are awesome and if you are close to this inn you must stay there .

  Great Weekend

  We had an amazing weekend at this B&B. The staff not only catered to our needs but also took time to hang out with us and got to know us making this a very intimate experience. David is an amazing cook serving amazing breakfasts and even shopping and cooking us a dinner when the kitchen isnt even open for dinner at this time! Karen and David both provided excellent customer service with a personal touch. We will be back!!

  Utter disappointment

  My daughter and I were so excited for a VA wine country B&B experience and we were utterly disappointed by this establishment. We arrived to what appeared to be an empty house - had to call the owner for assistance. When the innkeeper came down, she was pleasant enough but seemed a bit rushed in her tour of the place. We were uncomfortable with the live bird in the guest lounge (that bites) and the other animals around. The room seemed clean, but unkept with damage to the shower and bathroom floor. Additionally, Japanese beetles were found in the bed and around the room. We were told breakfast was at 9am. However, we had an early reservation to visit Monticello and were unable to participate as it was not communicated to us that anything could be available at another time. When we were leaving the cook stopped us and tried to convince us to stay or return for the meal that had been ready for a while - an invitation my daughter and I found quite odd. All in all - we felt the cost of our one night stay in no way met the value, expectation, nor quality wed expect.
