    Needs an Upgrade

The hotel is large, rooms are spacious. Its well maintained but needs an upgrade. Bathroom is old, breakfast is average at best. Staff are efficient but not really friendly. This hotel has much going for it but needs a redo for 2020.

Traveled for work. Great staff, beautiful setting

Property was very well maintained and the suite that I stayed in had a crisp, clean feel. The staff was also accommodating and helpful. I needed a late- checkout because my flight was delayed and they didn't charge us. The pool was also a nice feature. The location is tucked in a nice little neighborhood but still accessible.

    Can Not Recommend

My friend and I decided to spend two nights over Christmas at the Lotus Suites. It was close enough to home that we didn't have to worry if the weather was bad, yet we were excited over our little mini vacation. We stayed in a two bedroom suite, which is advertised on their website to have two separate 'sleeping chambers', a living space with a fireplace and a fully furnished kitchen with regular size refrigerator, stove with oven, microwave, dish washer and 'most utensils'. The hotel featured it's pool and hot tub and it's free breakfast as well. So we packed a bag of food supplies to make a Christmas Eve pizza in our suite and set out on our little get-away. I don't like to begin a review negatively, so I will start by saying the hotel in general seemed clean and well kept. The two bedroom suites are laid out nicely, each with a bedroom on each side of the living area and it's own bathroom. The suite appeared clean, with no odors. The shower head provided good water pressure. Now for the less than desirable aspects of this hotel. We arrived after dark. The lights in the parking lot are very dim. The parking lot is not brightly lit at all. We checked in and carted our belongings up to room 300, on the third floor. Started unloading our things when we realized it seemed rather cold in the room. My friend turned on the heat in her bedroom. The heater produced a horrible smell, which did not dissipate after running for a bit. I turned on the fireplace, hoping to warm up the room, only to find out the fireplace didn't light. Made a trek down to the front desk to report this and they had the maintenance man come up to take a look at it. He determined it 'needed a part' and wasn't going to work. Back to the front desk to ask to be moved to a suite with a working fireplace, as the fireplace was one of the deciding factors in staying at the Lotus. We were told they had one suite left, on the second floor. So we moved all of our belongings to room 200. After all of this, it was getting late and our planned evening in the hot tub was given up for relaxing in front of the fireplace watching tv. It was at this time that we discovered the 'fully furnished kitchen with most utensils' included a few butter knives, a couple forks and spoons, four dinner plates, four salad plates, two soup bowls, a couple glasses and a couple wine glasses and four coffee cups. No pots, no pans, no cooking utensils, not even a dish towel or pot holder. (I must note here that the next morning we had to drive home to get these various items so we'd have something to work with) The bath amenities included a bottle of shampoo in each bathroom with a small bar of bath soap (one of which we put at the kitchen sink so that we could wash our hands when cooking) and an even smaller, quarter size, hand soap. The bed wasn't uncomfortable, but it was softer than I like. There were four small, hard pillows on each bed. In the morning we went down to have breakfast, which is only open from 7-9am. They had the usual hotel breakfast food. Waffle machine, scrambled eggs, sausage, french toast sticks, muffins and bread. They also had fresh cantaloupe and pineapple chunks. I thought the coffee was pretty good. After breakfast, and our unexpected trip home for cooking utensils, we came back to the hotel to enjoy our pool/hot tub time. After spending some time in the pool, which was an ok size with ok water temperature, we went to the hot tub. We could not get the hot tub running, so dried off and went down the cold hall to the front desk to find out what we were doing wrong. Someone went back to the pool room with us, and she could not get it to work either. So, once again, the maintenance man was called. When he finally arrived, after 30 minutes of waiting and a phone call to the front desk to see if he forgot to come (had to call the front desk from my cell phone, as there was no phone in the pool room. This seems very unsafe in the event of an emergency in the pool, if 911 needed to be called and a cell phone wasn't available at the time.), he left to check something and came back to tell us that the water pump appeared to be broken and a part needed to be ordered. Perhaps he could order the hot tub part when he ordered the fireplace part in room 300? Just a thought that crossed my mind, as we faced the reality that our long awaited afternoon in the hot tub was not going to materialize. Back to the suite to watch tv, which we could have done at our own homes for a lot less than the $400+ we paid to stay there, and most likely on a much more comfortable couch than the worn out one in our suite. At this point, I would like to mention a few other items that were lacking...no light bulb in the lamp by the dining room table, no safety bars in either tub, no ice bucket, one of the tub drains leaked so that by the time my friend finished her bath, almost all of the water had already drained out of the tub, smoke detector in one bedroom was hanging on a wire from the ceiling, 12 cup coffeemaker and coffee packet to make four cups of coffee in the kitchen. Before leaving for Christmas Eve church service, I spoke with the front desk and voiced my displeasure with the many things that were making our stay very unpleasant. I asked if there was any type of compensation the hotel would consider because of all of these things. I was told she would check with the manager and I should inquire upon checking out in the morning. When I did so in the morning, the very young man at the front desk didn't know anything. He called someone and talked for a bit. He then said because we had gotten a 'special rate', there was nothing more they could do. I asked what special rate that might be, and he said I paid less than the regular rate. I indicated that I paid their senior rate, which I qualified for, but I didn't think that should have any bearing on the poor conditions/accomodations we experienced. For two nights our bill was $421 and change, which we were willing to pay in order to enjoy the fireplace and hot tub. He then called the person back and talked a bit more. He asked this person to please come down and speak with me. They refused. After that phone call, he said he could offer me a $10 credit. I asked if that was $10 per night, and was told no, just $10 total. In my opinion, this was very insulting and very poor customer service. But I knew I wasn't going to get anything more from these unreasonable people, so I agreed to the $10 credit. He then printed up my receipt, which showed a charge and payment of $421 and change, and the bottom line stated BALANCE $10. He told me I had to sign the receipt, which I refused to do because it was showing they charged my credit card for the full amount and was showing I owed a balance of $10. I asked him to explain this to me. He could not, and for the third time he called the mystery person and asked them to please come down and talk to me. Again they refused. If I wasn't so perturbed by this time, I actually would have felt sorry for the kid at the desk, who obviously was not capable of handling the position he was in. Finally he figured out how to explain the receipt to me and said the $10 was under the 'paid out' column. He opened the drawer, took out two $5 bills, and said he was giving it to me in cash!! This does not seem like a proper business practice to me, and my guess is this happens quite a bit, thus keeping the petty cash drawer at the desk. I have never been so happy to leave a hotel in my life. They surely do not represent privately owned hotel establishments very well. Lesson learned....stick to the chain hotels that guarantee your satisfaction and go out of their way to make you stay as pleasant as possible. This place does not do that.

    Great staff, location and property

I stayed here for a wedding a few weeks back. The property is set in a pretty area that is secluded but near other attractions and dining options. I liked how it was set on a golf resort. The rooms were large and breakfast was tasty. The staff is also very nice and accommodating.

    A Hole In One!

Over the years I have stayed at the Lotus Suites. I have always the team to kind and gracious and the rooms spacious and clean. The hotel is located in a nice area, next to an excellent golf course. You can get a way without going far away.
