  Favorite Place in NC

  Idyllic Setting.- The Elk River is an attraction all its own. Comfortable chairs, no crowds, just peace and beauty. Incredible Lodge - the workmanship and decor was superb. It was our last stop in NC. We were only there two nights and it rained all day our full day there- and the place was so picture perfect inside and out that we happily spent most of our time just reading and relaxing, with a little exploration thrown in. Bobbie the Innkeeper sets the tone of graciousness and hospitality; plus breakfast is a real treat. She packed to go ham and biscuits for us so we could get an early start our final morning. Our goal is to spend time every year in this great find in NC!

  6 Star Comfort and Service

  We stayed 3 nights at this wonderful place with a room upstairs. Gourmet breakfast every morning by delightful and helpful staff. Everything you want is there - beautiful stream in the back, fire pit along the stream, private seating areas, fireplaces on both upper and lower decks. Our room was immaculate, clean, and everything we needed was provided. We travel extensively and the Lodge at River Run is definitely a place to travel back to for relaxation, easy travel to local attractions and shopping, etc. Bobbie and her crew are always willing to help you with suggested day trips and dining suggestions. Very rare we give a "6 Star" rating but the place is really too good to be true. Suggestion: Reserve early, ask for dining suggestions, and have a great time!

  Peak weekend in Banner Elk

  This was our first stay at The Lodge at River Run and it won't be our last! We can't wait to go back! Next time, we'll skip sightseeing in Boone and Blowing Rock in favor of books by the Elk River at The Lodge.

  A little bit of paradise on Earth!

  The Lodge at River Run is an absolute dream of a place! We originally booked for three nights but ended up staying an extra night because we loved it so much, we wanted to stay one more day just to enjoy the property! We stayed in the Mountain Laurel room which is perfect for a family of 3 (although it could accommodate 4). Bobbi is an amazing host and her crew makes sure everything is impeccable at all times! They do a really good job implementing COVID protocols too, while making your stay really pleasant. Breakfast is made specially for every guest and it is absolutely delicious! We made the best winter memories, sitting by the fireplace, exploring the creek, and watching the snow fall. I cant wait to visit again!

  Fabulous weekend!

  The Lodge is nothing short of fabulous. The service is outstanding (despite navigating the demands of Covid). The lodge is first rate throughout from fixtures to the most comfortable bed and linens. The breakfasts were delicious and the accommodations included a long list of amenities. The balcony, complete with comfortable seating and wood burning fireplace, overlooks the beautiful, trout-filled Elk River. While it was a little cold for fly fishing, Orvis would jealous! The first afternoon at the Lodge we saw four deer stroll by on the back lawn. We had come for a weekend getaway and were impressed from the start. Bobbie the Innkeeper was very friendly and helpful and made excellent recommendations for lunch, dinner and site seeing. We've stayed at our share of B&Bs but The Lodge is an absolute standout in so many ways. If you're searching for 'the' place to stay in the Banner Elk area, this is one of the best and you will not be disappointed.
