Average does not mean bad! This is a quirky, cheerful little building full of helpful, cheerful people, located right on one of the "hop on, hop off" bus lines, but far enough from city center and Temple Bar to be bearable for us non-party animals. If our room was a representative sample of the rest, they're snug but not cramped, well-worn but not in the least bit shabby, fitted with surprising amenities (loved the fridge and microwave), and quite reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet was nice, all the basic components of an "Irish breakfast" plus a few healthier tidbits, and so filling we could plan on skipping lunch. The very few downsides, other than the all-hours din of people and vehicles which is Dublin, have become familiar and almost expected as we've traveled further around Ireland: unreliable internet connectivity, tiny (and in this case, rather odd) shower facilities, and water pressue roughly equivalent to a small boy peeing into the wind. These make me scratch my head, but then, I'm certain that Irish visitors to the US are every bit as surprised by our guesthouses' lack of complimentary teabags or electric kettles, and how annoying our water-saving toilets can be. At the bottom line, this is an affordable, comfortable, and seemingly secure B&B with friendly staff who really know their way around Dublin, well located for sightseeing and generous with the bacon, perfect for backpackers who crave privacy (and a place to wash their shorts) or low-maintanance travelers who want to avoid the snobbery and expense of a big hotel. No, it's not the Ritz-Carlton. But that's exactly why we enjoyed staying here.

Great little apartments especially for couplesThe staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome, we received a free breakfast on the first morning which had continental and full English selections and was lovely. The apartments are out the back of the main hotel and are clean and modern. Very romantic and secluded for couples. Situated a 10 minute walk away from St Stephens Green you avoid the noise of the centre but are still close enough to restaurants and bars. We loved Dublin and when we visit again we will definitely stay here as its amazing value for money.

Excellent location for cityGreat location easy walk to city or even RDS nearby. Rooms and bathrooms are clean bit dated style and bed mattresses comfortable but Spring sprung. Lives up to its Star rating. Breakfast very good and free parking convenient. Tight fit when busy. Reception staff and breakfast friendly. After 9pm reception closes as does the front and back doors for security so code and pass card needed. System works well.

AwfulWell where do I start.. it was awful from start to finish. We arrived to having no hot water so we could not shower in our own room for the whole weekend which obviously was a nightmare in itself, they gave us a free breakfast voucher and that was colder than the shower so it wasn't even worth getting up early for! .. all they said was sorry there's no hot water wouldn't change us apartments or any money back! .. the phone was also broke in the room so we couldn't phone down so had to walk down each time to complain about the shower ! Plug sockets were hanging off the wall! And also the cooker was filthy, I would not eat anything that would of came out of it so we just are out in the end which is not what we had planned for every meal of the day! Also we thought they were being helpful ringing a taxi for us a couple times but the taxi driver told us each time they book anyone a taxi a 2 pound charge is added to our fare which no one told us !!!!! We definatly will not be returning to this dive and it was nice of the staff to try and accommodate us.. NOT!
