The Lake Hotel Overnight StayIt's been a while since the last time we visited The Lake Hotel due to Taal Eruption and Pandemic. The service, rooms and staff were still the same. They are very helpful and kind. From entrance to the room, guests were well taken care of. There's a lot of selection for buffet breakfast Rooms were thoroughly cleaned, sanitized and with fresh linens. Will definitely come back again.

Unexpected Bad Experience for Above Average RatesWe booked a room with a faulty bathtub drain. We got someone to fix it after a few times of follow-up. We got a temporary fix which would need us to pull the drain lock should we want to drain the water. The operations manager told us all of their bathtubs have the same drain type and offered that we get a room with a jacuzzi instead. We did not ask for it, tbh. But after minutes of waiting in the room unpacked, he got back to us saying all rooms with jacuzzi are fully booked. All rooms the same as ours are fully booked. That there are only two options. First was a room with a bathtub, the same drain type, and facing the street. Our room was partially facing the lake. The other room was a suite but no bathtub available. After we checked, we opted for the one with a lake view. We were given a few upgrades. We appreciate the effort of the operations manager but it seemed his hands are tied too. Or maybe, he cannot talk about the real solutions for irate guests. As this was happening, I was trying to book another stay, same date, at the Lake Hotel. All rooms were available with an understandably higher price since we're already within the day of booking and check-in time has passed. I just couldn't accept being told all rooms are booked. True enough by early night time, it seemed the hotel is 30% booked. The new room had automatic curtains: two of three are working by a button push. It had a living room with weak airconditioning. And a filter that does not stop beeping with a message to replace the filter. The bathroom had weak floor drains that water couldn't flow down the drain freely. Your feet would get soaked for about an inch while you bathe. By the time we're settled and we've already unpacked, we decided to step out. As we're opening the door, there was a beep sound, somebody used a master key to come in. She justified unexpected entry with coffee sachets in her hand and telling us the do not disturb sign wasn't turned on. By the time we got back, we asked how to go about the television. The remotes didn't initially match the TVs. (there are two TV units in the suite). We were told to wait for assistance. They'll be sending someone. After 15 minutes, I called again and was told someone will be sent. They did not acknowledge the already standing wait time. Another 15 minutes passed, someone arrived. By then, we got so irritated we had the TV working manually. There wasn't any mention about how it's turned on --could be just us. Another reason was to check the airconditioning unit since it was blowing warm to hot air. We tried different settings --The warm air (heater) setting worked as expected. The guy they sent told us even if he looks into it will just turn itself off and he wanted to verify the maintenance schedule of the unit. Since it took a couple of back and forth, we decided to let it go since the AC in the room is more important. During breakfast, I'd say that their food couldn't justify their service sincerity. I feel bad for them that they tried to keep us smiling. I'm not aware if they know that the food isn't warm and plain --dull actually. Good thing is that it was unlimited but we didn't get another main course plate (silog). We applaud the pianist and his playing. We appreciate the fact that he's continuously playing the piano. We also heard him play during dinner from our room. The ones who assisted us to our room, carrying our bags even if we didn't request them, were kind and nice. Checkout was a breeze only that the receptionist sounded sarcastic. I was just clearing that our rooms were changed. This is because my deposit claim slip had a different room number written on it. What we paid for, initially, for the hotel's most standard room wasn't cheap. It's above the usual room for two in Tagaytay. Offering an upgrade without checking is not cool, especially if your guests can confirm it. The upgrade we got felt it wasn't their best option. The view made up for it, but the other room issues were just simply non-negotiable, to begin with. Are we booking this hotel again? Maybe if we read current reviews that say we should. What we experienced is first hand. Tell your own story.

Family birthday getawayAllan, head of staff was attentive and so are Ryan and Magnolia during bfast. 1. Staff - 4 = friendly, hospitable and thoughtful. They served me a bday cake slice during bfast 2. Facilities - 2 = TV cable box had to be replaced. It was pixelating the image, indoor pool not avail. Gym and game room needs upkeep. Outdoor pool very nice and clean
