    Friendly People

It was the first time that my wife and I had ever been to Ross on Wye and despite the effect of Covid' throughout the town, it was a lovely place to visit. The hotel itself had obviously seen its trade diminish in the last few months and it was a shame that it's famed bar was only able to work at a limited capacity. As the title suggests the staff were all great throughout our two night stay and were happy to allow us to drop our luggage off at the start. Covid' precautions were clearly in place and both the choice and the quality of our breakfasts was impressive. Our four poster room had a lovely new bathroom (although both of us being stupid struggled to adjust the temperature of the shower effectively). The only problem with the work that had been done there was that it made the actual bedroom look a little tired. For the price I wondered if we could have done better elsewhere?

    The Royle,s alternative Christmas

We stayed at the Kings Head on the way to do an alternative Christmas Day with our daughter. Leaving from Cheshire this would leave a short drive on Christmas Day to our alternative Christmas Day. Booking and discussing our requirements was so easy with the hotel as they replied to contact straight away. Fantastic friendly staff with a great attitude towards the customer, we would definitely stay here again.

    Lovely stay

Had a lovely time staying here for 5 nights. The quirky building added so much character to a beautiful old building (Uneven floors, wonky steps, old floors and fire places, steeped sloped steps). Great staff, who were always very helpful. Very relaxed drinking at the bar with some locals. The food was also delicious

    Friendly, safe and comfortable

Unfortunately our visit was in order to attend a funeral and deal with the affairs of the deceased. However we found the time spent at the hotel to be relaxing and comfortable that it made the circumstances much more bearable. After finding difficulties booking elsewhere it was comforting to find somewhere that was able to satisfy our needs. The initial telephone enquiry was friendly and welcoming. The booking was made on-line direct with the hotel. The hotel is very safe following the government guidelines with hand sanitiser available and social distancing encouraged. There are a number of air purifying machines located in the hotel. We were made to feel welcome on arrival. We booked a king-size room. It was well presented and furnished. The bed was very comfortable. It is an old building with interesting features. We loved the fact the bathroom had modern chrome and glass fittings next to ancient wooden beams. You were provided with a menu for breakfast to order the previous day. This was delivered to the room at your preferred time. The breakfast was of good quality. There was an evening meal available. This consisted of one item which could be ordered in advance. The hotel does a takeaway service on Friday and Saturday which means the choice is wider on those days. We had the evening meal on two of the three nights that we stayed. This was great quality and was served in the room. We would recommend the hotel and would like to return in the future in better circumstances.
