  Port Clinton and Put in Bay getaway

  Location, location, location! Quaint, historic hotel in the heart of it all! Walking distance to Jet Express and a wide variety of excellent restaurants and bars. Updated rooms were clean. Staff was attentive and helpful-especially in light of the new Covid-19 guidelines. Would go back again!

  Older establishment in what appears to be a struggling community

  The city seems to be struggling economically being that there are vacant store fronts in the immediate downtown area. Not many people were staying at the hotel and the breakfast room was closed due to the Covid-19 restrictions. The main street was cordoned off to entice people to dine outside on picnic tables with food from the handful of local restaurants but not many were taking advantage of the opportunity or the nice weather. Our room at the hotel was small but the bed was comfortable. We were warned that it takes awhile for the hot water to come up when there are a lot of guest but that wasn't applicable during our two-day stay. The parking lot is around back of the hotel with a separate entry to the lobby. Lots of seagulls in the area (so, hopefully, your car doesn't get "bombed").

  Dirty, disappointing, noisy old hotel

  We had a king room, located up one flight of dirty carpeted stairs, down a creept old hallway. The carpet was spotted, worn and mismatched. The room at first glace appeared ok, but after pulling back the blankets we found the sheets were dirty, with hair and the like. So gross. I called the manager (GM) who brought up clean sheets to remake the room. As she made the bed, she put all the other linens on the filthy floor....pillows, blankets, coverlet, etc. The ceiling fan was coated in gray dust. I took a photo to prove it. No gesture of refund or discount even mentioned or given.

  Leisure Visit

  The outside of the hotel had us a little concerned but we were pleasantly surprised when we entered the building. The lobby is very quaint. Our room was clean and tastefully decorated. The location was fantastic. We had live music, food and beverage options and a little shopping right outside of the side door of the building. It was nice to unwind there both evenings after being out all day. We will definitely visit again. Victor and Vondy

  Poor customer service and they make unauthorized charges on credit cards

  I made a reservation for the Island House hotel for July 4th weekend and due to Covid and the closings in the Port Clinton area we decided around the 3rd week of June to cancel our reservation. My reservation was cancelled on June 18, 2020 and the girl working the front desk did not cancel my reservation therefore they charged my card for $211. When I called the hotel on July 3 to question the charge I was told that the girl that was suppose to cancel my reservation did not cancel it and there were other customers that had the same issue and that the girl no longer worked there. The Island house was very apologetic about the problem and agreed to withdraw the charge on my credit card. They took the charge off on July 20 and then charged me again on Aug 7 When I called back again. To dispute the charges I was told that they would not refund my money. Its sad that they are doing so bad with their business that they do these kinds of things. Please be cautious when you give the Island house in Port Clinton your credit card Information.
