Expected moreWe thought we had booked a great inn for a one night stay. It was the worst place we have stayed in the last 20 years. I tried really hard when I checked in to get a nice room as the place was not half full. Front desk assured me room was really nice. It was small, smelly, dirty and tiny. TV did not work and it was very dark. I am convinced they had better rooms, but for whatever reason they gave me room 3. Dont allow them to put you in this room,

Think twice!I would strongly advise you not to take a room here until you have actually seen the room, not just photographs of the room. Above all, do not put money down without seeing the room. It is unlikely to be returned if the room doesnt meet your expectations. All of this is especially true if you have mobility problems. There is no indication whatever in the advertising, at least up to now, that reaching your room might require you to go up a long and rickety stairway, or in the alternative stay in the annex where the tops of the mattresses are some three feet or more off the ground. Heres our experience: we were charmed by the photographs (which were more or less misleading in any case) which showed, among other things, an enormous balcony which appeared to be attached to the room. (It wasnt. It was part of the common area and in a different part of the house.) We merrily charged $1300 to a credit card, knowing that there were much cheaper options elsewhere in town. When we arrived we were shocked. My wife had difficulty getting up to the house, and once inside she had difficulty getting up the stairs. The room was overcrowded with old furniture (hardly antiques, in our judgment) and the room air conditioner had not been turned on. It was almost impossible for my wife to get back down the stairs; she took them one at a time, holding on to the railing. We explained that that room just wouldnt work. I was taken to see the rooms in the annex. The annex looks for all the world like an old roadside motel, but I would have taken the room if I thought my wife could get into the bed, easily the highest Ive ever seen. I dont know that I could have gotten into it. (The employees, by the way, were very helpful and solicitous.) When we told the woman at the desk (whether she was an owner or not I dont know) that we just couldnt do it she seemed very understanding and said she would refund the money into our Visa account the next day, and call it when she had done it. With that assurance we took a room in the Holiday Inn. She didnt call the next day, and when my wife called the Inn she was told that the money wouldnt be refunded but that they would send us a gift certificate for a future stay. My wife told that a future stay was unlikely, and that we wanted our money back, as had been promised. No deal, $1300 gone. We considered suing, but decided against it. I think we would have calmed down about it, except that they had the gall to send us the damned gift certificate. It is of no earthly use to us and can only serve to convince them they havent done anything wrong. So, in the end, Im not advising you not to stay, only to actually see the room before you put money down. Wait, I take it back. If you have mobility issues, then I would advise you against taking a room here.

Nice stayWe enjoyed our stay here. The room was huge, full of antiques, clean and comfortable, and possibly haunted. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were beyond helpful and friendly. Convenient location to Downtown. We would recommend.

Mislead!I paid the same as everyone else. There was no internet, no fire alarm, a roach crawled up the wall by my face! The mattresses are apparently old and there was an odor in cloth chairs. I found the employees from kitchen and would give towels, etc., to be very nice and the breakfast good. The owner was there when I called and that was the room she gave me. Some of the rooms were ok looking. When I called and talked to the owner, she seemed not to care...she had the money and it didn't matter. I stayed more than one night and called ten days prior. I did ask if I could change rooms and it was a week night but was told they could not that they were full, that was not true. The woman at the front desk told me that and was not caring about fire alarm, etc. I always stay in clean places and better that this was, BY FAR.....It looks nice but be very careful what you end up with. I was moving into my new place and had to wait few days. I took pictures and can show if one should want...479-9814140...very honest about this. The A/C filter was dirty and tv was ???But not having internet without going to lobby was not right. I believe in helping others to prevent things like this from happening to someone else. Service in kitchen for breakfast was good but NOT from owner or the one woman at front desk. I told owner that I had a business 25 years and just did things different but I figure if I tell her what was wrong she surely would want to know and sent her the pictures. She never called back???

Great innOld time experience and enjoyable stay. Minor problem was instantly resolved. Each room has a unique charm. If you are looking for totally modern accoutrements, maybe find another place. Breakfast was a highlight. Thank you, Charlene.
