  Quaint and Cosy Little Hotel in a great location

  I stayed for a night for a business trip. Lovely decor, cosy little room for one, included soaps and shampoos, free fast WiFi. Great choice for breakfast, all inclusive. Just a hop from the train station and town centre. Would stay again!

  Some serious consideration needed before booking.

  Room was quite spacious and very clean. The room rate was competitive and included breakfast. The welcome from the receptionist was attentive and Tan was interested to help. There is a car park opposite the front of the hotel surrounding a derelict building. The carpark is not well signposted so can be overlooked. The bar was not very welcoming and the member of staff who had just started his shift disappeared and it was some 10 to 15 minutes before our friendly receptionist realised something was amiss and arrived to serve us. There is numerous flights of stairs in the hotel and no lift so getting cases, as well as yourself to the rooms can be rather challenging. The following morning we attended the restaurant for the inclusive breakfast. Despite several requests to have our order taken we had to abandon the thought of anything to eat after 20 minutes of waiting. The service was very disorganized with only one waitress who kept reminding us that she could only take one table order from each table at a time. There was a lad whose job was to hand out the orders as they emerged from the kitchen but was unable to take any orders apparently. It would have helped if the staff rotated away from the kitchen door to other areas of the restaurant. The result was that several tables were ignored whilst other tables were occupied, orders taken, served and eaten whilst others still waited. It appears that it didn't matter what time you arrived but where you sat! So the advice is sit by the kitchen door you may get served. We did go over to the staff on three occasions and the answer was always the same. No apologies just the retort 'I am only taking one order at a time'. As we had meeting to attend we had to abandon the idea of eating and decided to check out. Amanda on the reception was caring enough to apologise and asked us to please give her a few moments to see if she could sort something out. The net result she came back to the desk very apologetically to say that she was also unable to get any joy from the staff in the restaurant. Our conclusions are simply that the receptionists were very helpful but I guess the rest of the staff were sadly lacking in any care or customer service. Very disappointed with our stay.

  Very accommodating, even to non-guests

  I had to wait nearly two hours for a train and I wanted somewhere warm and dry to stay whilst I waited. Everywhere was closed because of lockdown, so my choices were limited. Id stayed at the Imperial Crown before and very much enjoyed it, so I enquired if it was alright if I could sit in their reception. The lady behind the desk, Dionne, was very accommodating and kindly let me stay in the reception until my train arrived. She offered me the WiFi password and made polite conversation with me; she was very genuine. She is a true testament to the hospitality of the people of Halifax.

  Brilliant hotel

  I had to stay here for 4 weeks when I suddenly became homeless, and I was SO well looked after. The staff were incredibly kind and friendly, helped me move rooms when I upgraded, and generally were helpful and kind at all times. I would definitely stay here again.

  Excellent customer service.

  The staff here really made the hotel! They helped me with the wi-fi and ordering food. When the food arrived I received a phone call to the room and the member of staff on Reception provided plates and cutlery. The room was clean and comfortable, quiet and facing away from the main road.
