Wow!!We first dined at the Idle Rocks about 6 years ago and we were blown away then and are still blown away now. From the moment you walk in, the staff are incredible, making you feel so welcome. The decor is so tasteful. The staff all greet you as you are shown to your table and the views are simply stunning. Everything about the Idle Rocks is so special and the staff make you feel special. The service is perfectly choreographed, it's all so finely tuned. The food is exquisite and the clear attention to detail on the ingredients, the preparation and presentation is what makes dining here so wonderful. I fell in love with the Idle Rocks at first sight and each time I visit, I fall a bit more in love.

Absolutely fantastic!!!Oh my goodness this hotel and the staff are incredible!!! From the moment you arrive there is such an air of relaxed elegance. Every single member of staff was professional, friendly, so welcoming and made you feel like a superstar. The attention to detail in everything is sublime - just immaculate everywhere. The sea view from the room was second to none. And the food- wow wow wow!!! Just simply the best!!! Thank you to everyone- you were amazing and should be so proud of yourselves. It was without doubt the best most relaxing and luxurious break thank thank thank you!!!

AmazingI love love love Idle Rocks Perfect meal, perfect location, brilliant staff, I cannot fault this place. One of my favourite places. Im so glad we had the opportunity to visit again. We also tried an amazing Cornish wine which we went straight out and bought for home. Very Covid safe too.

Coastal chic and a chilled vibe - Perfect Birthday weekend (just before lockdown)! Finally after years of coming to the Idle Rocks as a non resident to enjoy the restaurant and drinks on the wonderful terrace, the last weekend of October I stayed at the hotel with my husband and my teen son. We had a lovely sea view room with a Juliet balcony on the first floor that opened up across the St Mawes Harbour and beyond. Our teen son had a comfortable room on the top floor which looked over the village and had a huge bathroom. We really wanted a weekend of R&R as well as celebrate my birthday with family. The hotel is comfortable with a unique twist on coastal chic decor, service is attentive without being too formal and the food at the restaurant is both delicious and creative. We ate dinner there both evenings, I loved the homemade bread too. A midday drink on the picturesque terrace in the autumn sun was made even better by the offer of a blanket to snuggle under and a hot water bottle. Cream tea by the roaring fire in the afternoon, taken in the comfy sitting room was lovely too. There were a couple of niggles that although they didnt dampen our weekend, they were annoying. On the day of our arrival the TV didnt work (it was fixed the next day) and the WiFi signal for guests is hit and miss around the hotel. For this level of hotel a strong WiFi signal should be non negotiable in all areas. Finally overall we felt safe by the precautions taken for the hotel to be covid secure, both by housekeeping for the rooms as well as by reception and restaurant staff. As we left the hotel it was preparing for the rest of November to be on lockdown, nonetheless we are already planning to go back soon, it really felt like a home from home!

Splendid week-end breakWe wanted to celebrate the end of Lockdown2 by indulging in a foodie break. We chose one of our favourite Cornish hotels - the Idle Rocks in beautiful St Mawes, with one of the best hotel outlooks in Cornwall. It overlooks St Mawes harbour. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and modern with a roomy en suite and a juliette balcony giving you those splendid sea views. My only criticism is that I could not get the slightly strange phone to work when I wanted to call reception to tell them that the coffee machine wouldnt switch on. It just made lots of weird buzzing noises and refused to connect me! At all times the staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful and create a relaxed atmosphere which is what you want in a break like this. The restaurant (as is the whole hotel) is very tastefully decorated with again wonderful views as you enjoy your meal. And the dinners were a foodies delight! Having heard that the new Head Chef, Dorian Janmaat, was formerly one of the main head chefs at Raymond Blancs iconic Le Manoir aux QuatSaisons (which we visited earlier this year - to celebrate the end of Lockdown1!) we had high hopes. We were not disappointed - It was certainly a fine dining experience with tremendous flavour, texture and superb presentation. It would not surprise me if at some stage Idle Rocks gain a Michelin star - it certainly deserves to become a renowned foodie destination if it carries on like this. The breakfasts are also extremely good. A very enjoyable two days!
