  Burghley horse trials visit

  Used the hostel for a quick over night after a long day. Mmmmmm .... guy on reception was superb:) really helpful and attentive. It only got worse. Locks on rooms were iffy. Give the door a hip bang and it opens !!! Shared toilet and shower ! The toilets were like indoor portaloos. !! Ha ha. Hey, if youre a bloke or a lads weekend away youll be fine. If youre trying to impress someone, spend a bit more :) x

  Abysmal

  Should have read the reviews. My husband booked the room but what we were expecting and what we got were two entirely different things. Reception staff was very friendly however the room was smaller than my horses stable with a dodgy looking bunk bed over the two singles squashed together, no toilet, no bathroom, no privacy just a feeble curtain which was exaggerated by what could only be described as a Eastern European street party happening right outside the window. Place smelled stuffy and damp and we felt generally unclean just being there. We couldnt bring ourselves to physically staying there so we left within 20 minuets of checking in, I would rather sleep in my car! Didnt ask for money back as previously stated I shouldve checked the reviews. £50 lesson well learned!

  Romantic getaway

  It was absolutely awful !! I simply wanted a decent bed and breakfast. The remote for tv broken The toilets were in the corridor and looked like airplane toilets The beds were v v hard Breakfast didnt exist Got charged in total 100 quid for one night after faulty booking In middle if industrial estate - v hard to find by foot Whilst their didnt see anyone else - seemed apocalyptic Would not recommend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  You get what you pay for

  Stayed for one night as this hotel was close to the start of the half marathon the next day. Paid £53 for two singles with an en suite. It was super basic and cheap as chips. Everything worked but it's very rough and ready. No issues with the staff or the level of cleanliness, just bear in mind it's £26 pppn. What do you expect for that really? Within walking distance of the city centre, the greyhound stadium and the local McD's. You pay your money, you take your choice.

  strange vibe

  worst over night stay ive had-and thats saying something, couldnt find it as its tucked away behind a huge industrial estate, its not on boongate, tried to enter via newton way but there was a huge butty van parked at the entrance, staff we're nice and free parking but thats it for positives, it just has a weird iffy vibe when walking through, wheres the minimal breakfast thats shown on photos gone? bar never looked open, i knew the shower/toilet we're in the corridoor but wow it was like using a cubicle in a mobile caravan, we wouldn't even use the shower door to room never seemed locked properly, the security look on window was riipped off and was outside on window sill, wallpaper was very tatty, no light swtich near the bed or plug socket, i will pay to stay in town and extra for car park instead of here
