My Preferred StayI've stayed in only a few hotels on 3 visits to China but the Shunjing Hot Spring Hotel is my favorite and choice for future visits when staying in Beijing. It is only about 10 miles from the airport. The service was always great and accommodating; the rooms are spacious, the bath/shower/tub is very nice. The breakfast buffet was always nice; the egg chef was very receptive to my golden yellow omelet needs...LOL. Laundry service was always great and timely; the pools and spas were quite a treat, so many types to choose from with varying environments. If I had one complaint, it wouldn't be just about this hotel alone but appears to be all in that the beds are a bit hard compared to western standards. The location is not in the immediate area of shops and restaurants but just a quick taxi ride away. My Chinese wife may wish to try other local hotels but I've advised her that this one will always be my first choice for comfort, value and familiarity. My actual visit dates were June 2011, June 2012 and June 2013.

Nice clean & comfortable room with view of hot spring swimming poolWe booked this hotel because of its very good reviews and we were not disappointed. The 4 rooms we stayed in all had view of the hot spring swimming pool: 3 of the rooms had frosted glass windows, so the views were not so clear but one room had clear glass windows, so had excellent view of the hot spring swimming pool. The rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. Three of the rooms had chandeliers. The long baths and wash basins were in pristine state. All the rooms had flat-screen TV sets but we did not watch TV because we spent most of the time at the hot spring swimming pools and spas. Although the hot spring swimming pool was just below our rooms, there was no access to the hot spring swimming pools and spas area from within the hotel. We had to walk across the car park, in the open air in the cold of winter, to reach the entrance to the hot spring swimming pools and spas area. Entrance fee was ¥238/person (half price for children not exceeding 1.4 m tall) for 24 hours. Those staying at Beijing Shunjing Spa Hotel were charged entrance fee of ¥88/person. Buffet was ¥98/person (half price for children not exceeding 1.4 m tall). The buffet was very good, good value for money. Breakfast at the hotel was good: there were some western food and some Chinese food.

Fun and relaxingI went here with a friend and we giggled so much, we had a great time! There are a variety of hot pools in a range of temperatures plus sauna rooms and dry hot stone beds where you can lay down to dry off. There are also super cold pools to dip into when you need a refreshing cool down. The staff here (at least on the day we went) had zero english and we didn't have enough Chinese but as is often the case another customer helped to translate at the beginning. Basically you pay 234RMB for a 24 hour ticket, though we'd had enough after about 4-5 hours. You can pay different prices to include buffet meal, etc, that's the part where the staff get stressed trying to explain the different options. You pay at the exit for anything you have charged to your bracelet like snacks and drinks inside the pool pavilion which is basically underneath the hotel. Our favourite was the outdoor area - we went in the middle of winter and there was ice on the ground from where peoples' drips had frozen, be careful as it is very slippery! It was very cold weather (about minus 10 degrees celsius) so the contrast between hot water and cold air was bracing at first but then quite enjoyable. Inside there are pools of every shape and size, including shallow pools with stools and tables where you can sit and play cards or board games, etc. We also enjoyed the free apples and mandarins for snacks (near the Japanese style pools) and there are water drinking stations with cups everywhere so that you can stay well hydrated. I noticed that there is a separate listing for the spa in Trip Advisor however the name is incorrect so I have put my review here although I didn't stay at the hotel - I live in Beijing. The spa is called Shun Jing [NOT Shun King]. It's close to IKEA and easy enough to get to by scooter if you live nearby.

Nice experience but I won't go back thereThey charge too much. Nevertheless they have some nice pools, especially I loved Japanese pools and outdoor pools. Hot spring itself is too big and too dark. It was a nice experience, however, I won't go back there again. Also they need to keep this place clean for the price they charge. Cause some pools and toilets are dirty. And another thing that I didn't like is that some people smoke in there.

Bad serviceWe went all the way there and figured that the place was closed. No announcement made, paid for 5 people and went through all the trouble to get there in a rainy day. It was very frustrating. There were two staffs there who were just standing there and not even trying to solve the problem. One of the guy told us to go to the other place and pay another package with the VIP price. I'm very disappointed that they didn't make any effort to at least try to solve our problem.
