  Relaxing and beautiful setting

  Stunning hotel in dullstroom, exceptional food and service, rooms were spotless and luxurious and very comfortable and spacious, staff very accommodating, easy drive from jhb and nearby to quaint town, highly recommended.

  Still a good place if you visit Dullstroom

  Still a good place to stay we enjoy this whenever we drive back from the Kruger park the rooms are big and me and my wife like the good service the outstanding bar and the restaurant with great food and wine. Especially to make a fire in the room and enjoy the last sips of wine is nice.

  Great for One Night and Late Arrival..

  Me and partner booked this place for one night, as it was the last place with accomodation. We decided to drive to Dullstroom without bookings, fortunately we got an amazing room at The Highlander Hotel. The Staff and lady of the place, were welcoming and friendly, the gentleman of the place was present but had zero interest in the guests, let alone greet. Anyway, we had a lovely evening and the food was okay. The room was quiet and cosy, the furniture was a bit old, we couldn't watch TV because the connection was bad, the WIFI didn't work at all, as cold as it was, every request for more wood is charged without your knowledge. Every extra service, is charged. Braise yourself for an uphill walk from the rooms to the reception, where everything is done, including the deliciously prepared breakfast. There is nothing much to see or explore, except the restaurant and bar. I suggest planning for additional activities outside the place!

  Luxury in the country

  I absolutely love this hotel. We spent one night here to celebrate my birthday. We stayed in a queen loft room, which was so spacious with 3 single beds upstairs in the loft, a lounge area downstairs with fireplace (the best part) and a small garden, as well as a full en suite bathroom with corner bath. We lazed at the pool in the sun in the afternoon, and it felt like being out in the country. The gardens are beautiful, the sound of the trees blowing in the breeze, and the water feature were so tranquil. The kids loved being in the main hotel playing chess and the staff were so friendly.

  This hotel is small, personal and unique. The staff are incredible and the restaurant is not to be missed.

  We were fortunate to receive a complimentary upgrade in our room - we bought the cheapest room knowing that we only wanted a bed and a meal - the room was very good but was a family room designed for 4 (but there were only 2 of us) . Lo and behold - we were given a complimentary upgrade to a suite as Jason and Lucas stepped in to make our experience move from really great to absolutely awesome. We chose to eat at the hotels Chapter 1 restaurant - The Art of Food and what a brilliant decision. Oysters and mussels just flown in from the West coast. A small menu but food prepared with the same attention to detail that is throughout the property. A country hotel (such a nice change to modern standardised chrome and glass hotel rooms) with staff who are incredible and totally customer centric. Don't go here if you want a sterile and cold reception - this is a good old fashioned travellers inn - you can't find them anywhere these days and it is so nice to find that one still exists in Dullstroom. Friendly, warm and delightfull.
