Staff excellent, room was very tiredI booked a single room about two weeks before my visit. On arrival the receptionist was friendly and helpful. I was shown to my room (very small, even for a single). Tea / coffee making facilities were available. The bathroom had various cosmetic issues (tiles, floor corners, lights) which did not give me a cosy feeling. Breakfast was self service. A buffet of bread, croissant, cereals, jam etc. In the 'fridge were fruit juices, in their supermarket TeraBriks and milk in its six pint plastic container. Not many points for presentation there. I had stayed at this hotel many years ago when was under a different name. I don't think that the years have been kind to it.

Pleasantly surprisedBooked one night here, 2 rooms for me and a couple of friends. Very surprised at £60 per room, per night, including breakfast and access to the hotel spa. Turned out to be a very good value for money option. Receptionist was pleasant, helpful and arranged taxis from hotel into town for us. Our rooms were on the ground floor and we were told there would be a function in the hotel that night, I was concerned about noise, but we didnt hear a peep, very quiet. Rooms were spacious and clean, no complaints. Breakfast was a continental style, but the choice of toast, muffins, pastries, cereals, yoghurts, etc, was plentiful, as much tea and coffee as you could help yourself to. Didnt use the spa facilities as we didnt have time, but felt we got value for money without using them. Would definitely return next time we are in the area.

Good as last timeWe stay here for two nights in room 312 on the first floor. The rooms are like mini apartments, its a large bedroom and separate bathroom. The L shaped room has a table and chair, sofa which opens to a bed, iron and ironing board, theres tea and coffee making in the room. The team are soo friendly and want you to enjoy your stay. When we arrived the room was a little chilly so our girl at reception brought up another duvet and a small fan heater, once the central heating kicked in we didnt need either of our extras but the gesture was nice. Its bed and breakfast and we paid £60 per night. The breakfast room had loads to offer and you helped yourself, nothing cooked but you can book in advance for cooked Food. ( its extra) but we were ok with the included. Next door is the on site restaurant and in front of that nearer the road is the pub. Food was freshly made, we had an evening meal on Friday and lunch on Saturday. The team were helpful and we enjoyed both visits. On Saturday evening I bought a bottle of wine to take up to our room and our waitress supplied us with an ice bucket and two glasses, nice touch. Weve stayed in so called high end hotels before but this one leaves them cold for service and overall enjoyment. Check this out.

Good atmosphere and great foodWent for a Sunday meal with friends. The food was very tasty and good quality, no one left a crumb! Drinks were reasonable and wine was good. During this Covid time there were plenty of good practices in place. No visiting bar, staff service, hand sanitiser and tables spaced comfortably apart but not so far you felt alone. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. We will be going again soon. Thanks for a great meal.

DullRoom very tired looking and outdated. Both taps in bathroom were running hot water...no breakfast facilities and no discount offered or given, was offered a continental made up breakfast at extra cost. When you saw a staff member they were polite. Hotel could do with a good make over.
